Freedom Autumn 2011

Here are the last of my snaps of Freedom's new Autumn collection. Contemporary, clean lined and urban. I'm loving the grey pinstriped dining chair. My photo just doesn't do it justice. I'm scheming on how to include it in my black bedroom redo. The cane canopy chair is a great statement piece as is the oversized red lacquer Chinese chair. I can't wait to see the collection in store mid March. There was so much to take in on launch day I think I need to take my time and visit them all again. Thanks again to Freedom for allowing me this sneak peek (and the chance to schmooze with Australian and NZ magazine editors and stylists).

FarFetchers

This morning I'd like to take a moment to introduce a new advertiser. This is another one I got pretty excited about. FarFetchers is a bit like 1stdibs, but perhaps a bit more affordable. Below is a bit of info on this shop that I would likely pass out in if I got to visit it in person. And frankly, once someone mentions the words JIELDE and TOLIX, I'm pretty much SOLD.

FarFetchers was formed in 2010 to help interior designers, architects, and home owners find the right elements for their designs. We operate as a sourcing service to the trade and the serious home owner/decorator. We also have a listing service for products of select dealers all over the world. The two services work hand in hand. We list products and display the showrooms of dealers carrying European industrial products, rustic country antiques, French Art Deco, Mid-Century classics,  you name it we can often find it. Whether you need a Belle Epoque Carousel horse by Gustave Bayol, a Jules Leleu wardrobe, a Jielde factory lamp, or a set of marble bistro tables and vintage Tolix come to us and let us help.

One fun thing about our site is the showroom browser. We try to capture the excitement of antiquing in Europe, poking around the back corners for those discoveries that make the experience irresistible. Some examples of showrooms that we've captured are European industrial, Antiques of Sport, Classical antiques and Asian pieces, French Art Deco, and French country and rustic.

I spent some time perusing their online shop and came across the following awesome pieces...

Freedom Autumn 2011

More sneak peeks from Freedom's Autumn 2011 collection. Remember this is not released until mid March when you'll get to check out all its loveliness in the catalogue or in store. After yesterday's brights today it is all farmhouse linen, recycled timber, white with stainless steel and lush leather. Favourites? Love the Sommerfield sofa chic with its laundered soft-touch linen/cotton, the old school architect's office vibe of the Journal occasional pieces and the Providore stainless steel topped table.

Freedom Autumn 2011

Last week I was a guest of Freedom for the launch of their Autumn 2011 collection. Impressive in every way. Heading in a new direction, the line is a mix of sophisticated design with the highest quality workmanship. There is something for everyone whether just starting out, family living or downsizing, a rambling cottage or chic townhouse. To grab your attention here is Freedom's limited edition range. Bright, fun, punchy and directional. The Venus dining chairs are in a delicious range of colours. Be quick for these. They won't last. The bespoke fabric featured on the Threadneedle armchair was a collaboration between Freedom and a group while of Sydney graduates and then milled in Italy. There are only 2000 metres of the Pixel fabric which is featured on the Digital sofa and because of the pattern no two sofas will be quite the same. Thought I'd start with these statement pieces just to grab your attention. More photos to come. Everything from chic city living pieces to Belgian farmhouse country. My camera finger was snapping. (Point and click. I'm no professional photographer but you get the idea.) The range is released in mid-March. Catalogue out then.

Sunday quickie

Jo mentioned in her post yesterday that this weekend is our last blog-free weekend, and while she kind of broke that rule by blogging, I am doing the same. I thought I'd get some blogging out of the way that I was supposed to do last week. Before I get to that, we've had people leave comments here and there asking about whether we're on Facebook and Twitter. Some members of my family have also been driving me nuts about this so over the holidays my husband got us up and running on both, and has been maintaining them ever since. Although Jo and I already have our hands full, hopefully we'll be able to start getting more involved. So in the meantime check us out on Facebook here, and Twitter here.

Alrighty, so last week we had 2 new advertisers join us that I wanted to mention. The first being J.Covington Home, a shop based in Portsmouth, NH that now has an online store of beautiful furniture, lighting, pillows, art, antiques and home accents. Unfortunately they do not ship internationally so I will have to love their pieces from afar, but folks in the States can take advantage. I devoured their website and below are some of my favourite finds.
