Offi, at 2Modern

I was poking around the 2Modern site this morning, and came across the furniture line Offi. "Offi & Company, based in Emeryville, California, was born out of a love for great design. Offi satisfies this passion by creating simple, beautiful and practical furnishings that address the modern urban lifestyle. OFFI products are created to be multifunctional, comfortable, and at home in any modern home in the world." Their furniture is for sure modern but I love how the majority of the items have curved lines, that removes the typical harshness of most modern pieces. (And as an avid fan of Karim Rashid, I was pleased to see that some of their products are designed by him). They also carry kids furniture and it's incredible. Most of the items are marketed as easy to put together and something kids would enjoying helping with. Brilliant! Here's a taste of what you'll find at 2Modern from the Offi line:

How delightfull

We received an email from the folks behind Delightfull, a lighting company based in Portugal. In their first collection of 25 pieces, called 'Heritage', they were inspired by design trends of the 50s and 60s. The design and production of their products - totally handcrafted - all happens in Portugal but I checked with them and they do ship internationally. This is how they define Delightfull: "A secret is only fascinating if it can be shared through a flow of words that are capable of shaping something that is nothing but a feeling. Sometimes it feels like a paradox, as the bigger the secret is, the louder you feel like revealing it, so that all may share the rare pleasure of grasping something that is unique and almost untouchable". So totally fabulous...

They also have another line of furniture, lighting and mirrors called Boca Do Lobo and I had to post about this as well because WOW, there are some beautiful pieces that I'd die for.

Caleb Woodard Furniture

I love beautiful handcrafted timber pieces. The life of the tree is displayed lovingly before your eyes and the silky touch of such a piece is a joy. Caleb Woodard is an artisan woodworker whose organic creations are celebrations of a dying craft and a dwindling resource. Mass produced is a necessity but handcrafted is an artwork to be cherished. Caleb's fiance and partner in developing this enterprise, Melanie told me that Caleb specializes in an organic woodworking aesthetic with live edges and midcentury touches - he's inspired by artists from George Nakashima to Vladimir Kagan. Take the time to visit his website and explore his philosophy. Inspiring.

And now a word from our new sponsor

I could use a green tea right about now (it was a very VERY long day), and considering the state of my kitchen, I could also REALLY use some cabinets from Greentea Design. It's a Toronto based Asian furniture retailer with a large selection of contemporary and antique pieces and a strong commitment to the environment. They've been around for over ten years, and judging by the products featured on their website, I'd say they'll be around for many more. Not only do they carry kitchen cabinetry, but living room, dining room and bedroom furniture as well. Gorgeous!!! (Thanks Michael!)
