Stalking a fireplace

I always like to see what people have hidden at the back of their houses. Extensions and additions give me unexplained pleasure when I'm real estate stalking. particularly when a modern design is hiding behind a traditional facade. And if this extension just happens to be a glass sided box with a killer futuristic fireplace? Then it's a winner in my book. Prahran, Melbourne house for sale here while the link lasts.

On the porch

It's probably too late in the year. It is probably too cold. Snow may have fallen and the trees are more than likely bare by now but next year ... next year as summer fades and the autumn closes in you'll find me sitting on the porch, perhaps with a fire crackling in the corner, a rug close by. Yes you'll find me rocking quietly, drinking in the view ... in my dreams. By Meyer Davis Studio.

Stalking a loft 1

I'm stalking two industrial style lofts today. The first, in a former produce store in Richmond, Melbourne is mind blowing. The open plan design over several levels, the concrete and timber, the steel and the brick are all classic industrial loft riffs. The design stars for me are the two fireplaces. Oh my! I'd be lighting fires in summer and cranking up the air conditioning to cope! OK so it  needs some personalising. It's like a cross between a bachelor pad and a half empty furniture consignment store. But the bones! Oh the bones! For when I win the lottery. Link here while it lasts.

Clifton Beach

Beachside living has never been so glamorous. ANTONI ASSOCIATES, the Interior Design and Décor division of the South African architectural firm SAOTA, have created a white and white interior that is sophisticated and luxurious with classically elegant overtones yet breaks out to an amazing al fresco entertaining area that is the signature of both these firms. A glass walled double void connects the upper and lower flows while providing a stunning backdrop to the study's fireplace. White hot elegance on a hot white beach.

bfs design

Minimalist and modern. Two spaces by Berlin based architectural firm bfs design. Retro riffs and textural wall treatments for a modernist glass atrium house or a sparsely elegant interior fitout in an historic apartment. Sophisticated and oh so German cool.
