Cheer up Kim!

I've been secretly collecting bits and pieces as a house warming present for Kim. This is the final piece. I won her on eBay last Sunday night and she was waiting for me when I got home Thursday. Beautiful fine white vintage Portuguese and a vase. Just as spring has sprung in Ottawa Kim is snowed under with her "real" job and I have decided to reveal the surprise to cheer her up. Looks like I'm off to the post office this Monday. In the meantime I better get some posts published!

A FANTASTIC mail day!

Today was one of the greatest mail days EVER!! Stuck between my screen door and front door were 2 packages that I had totally forgotten about. It was the 3 bargello pillows I won on eBay. I have developped quite an obsession for these pillows, and now own 8 of them. They are so colourful and vintage-retro looking. Perfect to hide the not so great colour of my vintage sofa.

I saved the best for last. I finally broke down and bought a cowhide rug, also on eBay, for my living room. I really wanted a "shapeless" rug because I had tried a couple of rectangular ones and they made the room look too small. It ended up being just under $200 including shipping and it arrived in less than a week. The cats love it too. Now I am for sure going to get a zebra one for my dressing room. (And no, I haven't had time to get my chairs upholstered yet).

Green colourway 54" wide x 46" length here. Just listed and still many days to go so don't get excited about the bargain basement prices. Both these pieces are quite flawed. I bid on this much better quality and much larger piece (54" wide x 150" length) a few days ago and this is how the auction ended ......

Still a great price for 4.2 yards if you knew how much this fabric sells for (and to the trade only). It wasn't me who won! Check out the rest of this seller's items. One of my new favourites. I'm going to regret telling you I just know.

Ikat

I've a hankering for some ikat in my new place. Perhaps for cushions. Perhaps to drape over a chair. Perhaps a footstool, a small chair or trim for some curtains. On design*sponge's bloggers' guide to online shopping I shared Uzbek Craft . This week I found Antiquarian Textiles on ebay. The goods appear very similar but the prices and more importantly the shipping are great. The problem I'm having is which one to buy! If suzani's are your thing they have those covered as well. Thinking lime green or dark blue myself .... or the pink or .... and should it be silk or cotton. Decisions!
