The dark side

There is something about a dark room. I don't mean that the light switch is off. These rooms are mysterious, cozy, snug, cool and cave like but they are also chic, elegant and unexpected. Be brave. Turn to the dark side.

Election time in Australia

Yes we're in the middle of a protracted election campaign in Australia. Still 2 weeks until election day. I don't want to show political bias so I thought I'd do a post that combined both major parties, the Liberals (right wing) blue and the Labour Party (left wing) red. So without further ado the red and blue room post!

And mustn't forget the Greens who will probably hold the balance of power in the Senate.

Take the time to check out these super talented photographers' sites. I'll be singing their praises in detail soon.

Colour - because white is too easy

I have nothing against white. But white is boring. Life is too short to be boring. I think every room needs a splash of colour somewhere...it doesn't have to be bright, but something to give warmth and energy to a room. On this note, here are some examples of rooms with lots of bold colour, not exactly on the pale side.

Beauty from Denmark

Some gorgeous photos from Living at Home. These photos show the best of colour, and of neutrals. I'm having a hard time deciding whether I prefer the first 2 photos, or the last 2. But what fun lounge seating in the first one - so cozy and inviting.

Indian dreaming

This photograph takes me away to the sensory overload that is India. A homage to all things eastern. The senses are challenged but it is a place to relax. The image is captured beautifully by photographer Simon Upton. Admire his portfolio here.
