I tend to use non-neutral colour in my home subtly, but the homeowners of this 190 sq m house in Norway have embraced colour in bold and playful ways. That's why I wanted to share this home. I love to see people decorate to suit their personalities and to have fun with it (pretty obvious by the sign in the entryway LOL) instead of following trends and taking it too seriously. What can I say about this Miami house other than OMG this is NUTS and the homeowner's love of art is quite...unusual. This is about as colourful and wacky as it gets. Designed by Frank de Biasi.
I wanted to share another home with you today that I fell in love with on Instagram. A while back I met Pati Robins virtually through this awesome social media outlet and her and her home have become instant favourites. Let me tell you a bit about Pati before I take you further into her home, but as you can see from the photo above of her entryway, Pati's joie de vivre and bold style is immediately apparent. Pati is a Polish chick who moved to the U.K. in 2007. She rents a small 2 bedroom, disabled-adapted home that is 78 square meters and shares it with her disabled veteran husband, daughter Olivia and 2 dogs. When they moved in to this home it looked NOTHING like this. It was painted in magnolia with smelly smoke-stained walls and a sloping mud patch of a backyard...clearly she has free reign from her landlord when it comes to painting her home. WOHOO! Over the past 10 years Pati has slowly renovated and decorated her home herself on an almost non-existent budget (having only paid a plumber once to install a radiator). She's so damn crafty that she even dyed a leather chair black! (see 3rd photo below) Oh, and did I mention she's a fabulous photographer??? This girl is so freaking talented!! And sweet! I just love her to bits and am so stoked that she was eager and willing to let me share her home here on the blog, which she has been reading for years! Mutual love fest happening here folks. Anyway, may I introduce you to Pati's dark and maximalist mini-home! *insert black hearts here*
Talk about making a statement from the outside in! This home designed by architect Peter Pennoyer is a stately gem with a bit of an unexpected choice of red for trim colour...but then when you walk inside it all makes complete sense. The homeowners appear to have no fear of colour so I would expect an designer such as Katie Ridder to make the interior a random assortment of some very bold colour choices. And it starts the second you walk in the front door! Not sure how I would feel living with these colours but the architecture of the home is really spectacular.
When you don't want your house looking like your neighbour's. Jenn Feldman Designs - she's all about in your face bold sophistication. Drama with dark colours, graphic artwork and fabrics and all the wallpaper! I am totally in love with her style - so much so there's a part 2 to this post coming later.
