Tolix chairs

Hus & Hem

Tolix chairs have been a favourite style of mine for ages. As you all know I am a huge lover of all things industrial, and this is the quintessential industrial chair. It was designed by Xavier Pauchard (1880-1948) who was a pioneer of galvanisation in France, and he registred the trademark TOLIX in 1927. His Marais A Chair became a standard of café seating in France. It is such a versatile chair - and such easy upkeep. And throw a faux sheepskin on it and WOWZERS! So here you are, a tribute to the Tolix chair. (P.S. I'm starting to think this would be a fabulous option for my dining room....)

Butterfly chair

Elle Decoration Sweden

Today I bring you a bit of chair porn, in the form of the butterfly chair. I have loved this chair for ages. I am fond of the shape (coincidentally, similar to that of a butterfly!), the sort of camp-y vibe of the frame (you can fold it up, stick it under your arm and go), and when it has a solid steel base and done in caramel or black leather, it is just heavenly. But beware, they can look very cheap and frail depending on how much you are willing to spend and where you buy from. My friends at Green Light Shop in Toronto have one in caramel leather - when they were located here in Ottawa I may have fondled it once or twice while visiting the shop. :) So here is a roundup of butterfly chairs for your viewing pleasure. Have a lovely weekend!

Eclectic on a Sunday

While I try and snap out of my cottage coma (wow, a day of fresh air can do wonders), please enjoy this funky, eclectic location home I found via 1st Option. It is a mid-century chair porn delight, with really beautiful architecture as so many British homes have. Also could not help but notice the flooring throughout...*sigh*.

Rocking chair love

Anson Smart

A few weeks ago when hubby and I were antiquing in small town Ontario, I spotted an old wooden rocking chair outside of a shop right where we parked our car. Each time we brought a load of treasures to the car (there were a few), I caught myself checking out the chair. It was really nothing special, and had some gawd awful floral design along the top piece that would have needed painting over (no biggie). The chair was already painted black so it seemed perfect for me from the get-go. And I did not buy it. I have no room in my home for new furniture unless I clean out my basement (a very daunting task). But it would have looked really sweet on my front porch (if my husband doesn't end up making me the L-shaped bench I have been hinting at). I regret not buying it - and I think it was only $35. AGH!! Since then I have been thinking about rocking chairs so I decided to do a post all about this style of chair. Rockin' out! :)
