All black

I find dark spaces so intriguing, especially while white Scandinavian spaces seem to have been all the rage as of late. Nothing against white, I am just a bit tired of it. I have not regretted painting my living room dark grey (Farrow & Ball's Down Pipe) and I have plans to darken other spaces around my house. As soon as I get some breakfast in me today, I will be working on painting my bedroom a dark-ish colour - Farrow & Ball's Mouse's Back. The 100 m2 apartment of designer Sylvester Kotsolek in Berlin from Architectural Digest Russia caught me eye - because the entire space is black! This is so moody and gorgeous. Kudos to Sylvester for having the guts to go black.

A century old loft in Barcelona

Before I head off to a full day helping my dear husband with his Daff Design booth at the Idle Hands Art, Craft and Vintage Sale where I plan to get all of my Christmas shopping done, I thought I would share this glorious century old loft in Barcelona. Once belonging to the current owners' grandparents, the space was renovated and as much of the original detail restored while modernizing where possible. The kitchen is a fantastic, and the vaulted brick ceiling is such a beautiful reminder of the structure's history. Eclectic furnishings (including a worn leather chesterfield *GASP*) and black elements elevate the coolness factor. Via Nuevo Estilo. Decor: Luzio. Photos: Montse Garriga.

A cottage in a forest

I spotted this year-round cottage on Décormag yesterday and had to share because this is my dream summer getaway....except it needs to be lake-fronted. And maybe in a warmer climate, like Mexico. ;) This stunner is located in the Eastern Townships of Québec and was designed by Atelier Barda. I am dying over the black stained wood exterior, and the simplicity of the interior is all you need in a second residence. And a must in a dwelling with surroundings this beautiful - those large windows framing scenes of the forest as art. (Photos: Yves Lefebvre)

Frama Studio kitchen

A simple but stylish kitchenette at the offices of magazine Soundvenue by Danish design studio Frama. "Designed to be a free standing element in a space without mounting to any walls or floors, the Frama Kitchen portrays the light expression of a piece of furniture within the kitchen environment." A striking bespoke unit of oiled oak drawers and black marble within a powder coated steel frame matched with pieces from their furniture collection.
