Bathrooms from Greentea Design

I have 2 bathrooms to completely renovate in my home eventually (kitchen is first on the list), so when we received an email from one of our sponsors, Greentea Design, about their new bathroom section on their website I was so excited. "Exciting news from Greentea Design. Customers are showing increased interest in our unique vanities so we have responded by launching a new Bathroom Furniture Section. It features beautiful antique pieces and exclusive Asian inspired contemporary designs, all in different settings. New suites have also been added, helping customers to "put the whole look together" with vanities, sinks, mirrors and shelving. The intrepid (and saucy) Design Guru Gib Dreffel has also written an article with many entertaining tips on Bathroom Design." I love it all!

Ben's showcase house bathroom

Well, it's good to be back blogging (although what I should really be doing is sleeping) and of course Jo didn't listen to me about not posting in my absence. OH WELL. She's not a very good listener. So I worked ALL weekend, and the next 3 weeks or so will be slightly less chaotic. It was so nice to finally have time to check my emails, and I found a lovely surprise when I opened Ben's email. It included some amazing photos...I'll let him explain:

"I am a new interior designer and have just completed my very first showcase house! I’d like to submit some photographs of a “faux bois bathroom” I just designed for this year’s San Francisco decorator showcase house. The inspiration was a trip through Sweden last summer where rooms were a dazzling mix of high and low end furniture. My goal was to create a very serene and ethereal space using a mix of styles --- traditional & modern, formal & rustic. It’s a mix that can be hard to achieve, but produces spectacular results with the right balance. The room meant to be elegant but restrained. Very appropriate to the way we live today!"

These photos are going in my inspiration file right away. I have 2 bathrooms to renovate and this fits me to a T. Thanks Ben!!! (Click on them for super-sized version)

I also found these equally incredible photos on his website. WOW.

Inspiration for a bathroom renovation

We received an email from Pooja who is looking for some help with her bathroom: "my husband and i are planning a small bathroom renovation and are stuck for ideas. we know we would like to use subway tiles (as the building was built in the 1930s) and are scouring the web for inspiration. i've pulled a few photos from your blog for our contractor, but was hoping to inspire you to post a few ideas for us." I found some subway tile photos but I also grabbed a few photos with other ideas, like painted wood paneling and square tiles for other options. Good luck with the renovation Pooja, and make sure to send us photos!

Bathroom inspiration

My younger sister Jen just bought a house with her boyfriend Dave which includes a bathroom that needs renovating because of some serious leak issues. So I told Jen I would post some photos to inspire her for her upcoming renovation. This was tough because so many bathrooms out there consist of really gorgeous and therefore really expensive tiles or marble, or they're simply really large spaces. Jen and Dave do not have alot of money to spend and although I haven't seen the bathroom, I know it will be a small space. Jen and Dave, do not take these photos literally. For example, I do not think you should tile an entire bathroom in black tile, but using all different shapes of a tile in the same colour is a great idea. (I've also realized that white tile looks incredible with dark grey grout.) Hope this helps.
