Rustic elegance by Jaimee Rose

A dose of southern charm in this somewhat rustic but very much sophisticated and elegant home designed by Arizona-based interior designer Jaimee Rose. I am dying over those striped painted floors above. If you have a pantry, do something bold such as wallpaper like Jaimee did here. Have fun where you'd least expect it. Now back to those floors...this could be interesting in my guest bedroom...

Oh Mama!

An apartment perched on the rooftop of an old factory in Sydney's inner-city suburb of Redfern, a modern oasis a hand's stretch away from the CBD. While the apartment is stunning and so are the views, it's the outdoor spaces that are the true luxury. As the designers SJB describe it it's "a garden that you happened to live in, rather than an apartment surrounded by greenery." And why did I call this post "Oh Mama"? Yes I love the apartment and its garden but my heart belongs to the Big Mama chair.

Stalking in London

It's 40℃ in my part of the world today (that's actual not "feels like") and I'm starting to think I need to move somewhere else, somewhere cooler (temperature) but definitely hotter (style). How about a 5 bedroom home in London's W10 area? "Embracing a look rooted in tradition, the interiors of this chic five-bedroom home also draw on eclectic, contemporary design to stunning effect. Grand proportions provide the perfect stage to showcase bold colours, ornate wallpapers and statement art." Yes please. I would love to be soaking in that tub in the colourful bathroom right now instead of sweating in today's outrageous heat. Only one problem. The price ... £3,950,000. Link here via Domus Nova.

The curse of orange knotty pine walls

Whenever I've been asked what to do with ugly orange-stained knotty pine walls or ceilings I have always had one answer ... paint them, paint it all! Sometimes you can't. You could be renting, you might not have the money or the time to invest in such a big job. Then I came across this log cabin styled by Susan Burns and it was an epiphany. The knotty pine walls and ceilings are the perfect foil for the white furniture and soft furnishings. OK the brick fireplace and some of the floors have been painted but the often overpowering orange wood has definitely been softened by what I'm calling the "white within". A pretty solution don't you think?

Stalking black and white on the water

I'm stalking the epitome of style and relaxed sophistication on the the shores of Sydney's Pittwater in the suburb of Bayview. Black and white with accents of warm woods and the glint of metallics. Effortless transition between the beautiful interiors and the lush landscaped garden. Then there are the views and the fact that you have only to cross the road to feel the sand between your toes. Want. Seriously, seriously want. Link here while it lasts.
