 Bathing

It may be winter in my part of the world and the whole idea of bathing Japanese style in this indoor outdoor bathroom is just a little too challenging but as soon as Spring rolled round (temperature and leaves on the trees) you couldn't keep me out! By b.e. architecture.

Not your ordinary bathroom

I have another luxurious, statement bathroom for you with a serious WOW factor by Royston Wilson Design & Minosa Design. This one is pretty bold, with a larger than life Mr. Bonaparte checking you out while you bathe. Black colour scheme, LED lighting that changes colour, and a disco ball over the tub, this is definitively not a bathroom for the faint at heart. Did I mention WOW? (Read more about it here)

Increation - a Victorian mill

Increation is an interior design firm based in London that specializes in kitchen and bathroom designs. I was poking around their website and came across a couple of great projects. This first one is the conversion of a Victorian mill for Kate and Shon. Ex cheetah handler, Kate, was determined to create her dream home from within the Old Street flat. Emphasising her own personality, she was looking to create in each of her rooms unusually different spaces that were to leave her with a sense of feeling both comfortable and wowed. Entertaining lay at the heart of this project, there being a clear brief for an open cooking space to allow for bottle opening and nibbling to happen comfortably. In addition, a cosy guest bedroom and second bathroom were to be created. Crafting her a stunning island as the feature of the space, which allowed for cocktails to be enjoyed at one end while cooking happened at the other. The carefully planned curved wall in the bathroom, with floor to ceiling tiles, creates a feeling of complete indulgence for those long soaks in the bath which Kate loves. For Shon, however, we created the perfect walk-in shower that has dark tiles and gentle lighting that allowed him to wake up softly in the mornings. I'm totally smitten with all the exposed brick. And that is one creative and funky kitchen!

Stalking on a Saturday

Stalking a stylish renovation of an art deco apartment in Double Bay, Sydney. Tastefully restrained with water views and drowning in beautiful light. One little surprise though. The ensuite or rather where the owners have built it. Balcony bathing anyone? Perfect for the exhibitionists. The rest of us can roll down the blinds. Link here while it lasts.

Lavender Bay Boatshed

Lavender Bay Boatshed, a three storey apartment in the renovation of an historic timber building on Sydney harbour. The design explores space, solid and void, pulling and stretching and piercing. The expansive and public meets the private and contained all tied together with skylights and shafts that frame "that" view and draw in the light. By Stephen Collier Architects.
