Bholu

Kim and I received an email from Jodie Fried. Jodie is the woman behind the inspired idea of bholu. The range includes cushions, throws, journals, slippers and a cute children's range of line and cuddlies. Products are designed in Australia but brought to life by Gujarati women in India using traditional techniques and motifs drawn by children of the slums. Even better bholu is a Fair Trade company and part of the proceeds go back to the women and their communities, along with funding educational facilities for underprivileged children.

Doll's house of my dreams

Iconic Australian company Dinosaur Designs is known for its sensuous resin jewellery and home wares. While drooling over their latest collection I stumbled upon this and smiled. Oh I wish I had this doll's house as a child. The unique pad was auctioned to raise money for the Leukemia Foundation of NSW in 2001 and was donated by the purchaser to the Powerhouse Museum, Sydney.

All images Dinosaur Designs.

P.S. If you don't know their work check out their site especially their jewellery...ooh and their home wares, all of it ... yum.

Absolutely beautiful Anna

Anna Spiro is an inspiring woman. Not only does she run a successful Brisbane (my home town) interior design business and stunning shop, she finds the time to share her design savvy and professional "eye" with all of us on her blog Absolutely Beautiful Things. ABT is a daily read for Kim and I and I know many of you are addicted as well. Anna shares not only inspiring photos from her style files carefully collected over the years, but reveals glimpses of her amazing store and portfolio. If you haven't already fallen in love with her blog do yourself a favour and visit.

All images from Anna's shop and portfolio via Absolutely Beautiful Things.

P.S. Anna is also the designer half of Casapinka where Pink with Anna's help renovates her home on the other side of the world.

Kim here - I just HAD to post the absolutely beautiful pillow Anna sent me all the way from Australia for winning a contest her and Pink Mohair had on Casapinka. Thanks again Anna!!!

Grant Featherston

Grant Featherston (1922-1995) is another Australian design icon I would like to share with you. What Hans Wegner is to mid century devotees in America, Grant Featherston is to Australians. Devoted to promoting a philosophy of good design and opposing the stifling forces of conservatism with an alternative to the overstuffed post-war sofas Grant Featherston gained success in the 1950s with his clean organic designs. The now famous contour chair can still be found in homes as well as fashionable design stores and museum collections.
