Aidlin Darling

Joshua Aidlin and David Darling head the multidisciplinary design firm Aidlin Darling Design. This San Francisco based team focus on architecture, interior design and furniture design. I would love to be sitting at the desk above staring out into the garden, trying hard to ignore my blogging duties. Love their clean modern lines and clever spatial solutions. Reddymade Design

Reddymade Design is a small architecture firm out of New York. They may be small in size but they are big in design and philosophy...and their philosophy is so eloquent I had to include it:

"Design is first a dialogue that begins with respect and understanding of the site, its nature and constrictions as well as the intrinsic desires and needs of the client. Then comes the creative genesis, the identification of the project's goal or potential, where it can go, how to develop its subtle and complex elements interrelating them into walls, floors, enclosures openings, lighting and more. After an essential idea that employs the use of space and light is conceived, a series of layers are juxtaposed to the raw form giving it materiality, color, texture and detail. Underlining the process is the indispensable element of time, the use of the space over a series of years or decades, its ability to last and be flexible to different needs, as well as its capacity to survive transformation.
The question that should be asked throughout the design process is: "Is this what this really should be?" The goal of design is to create an object that is so intelligent that it is beautiful."

The two sides of Albano Daminato

Albano Daminato is an interior architect and designer. Based in Singapore he has worked with some of the most prestigious design and architectural studios in Australia and Asia. His work has ranged from domestic, commercial and corporate through to retail and hospitality. The first photos highlight his interiors for the Amankora lodges, Paro, Punakha, Gangte, part of the Amanresorts group in The Royal Kingdom of Bhutan. The second set features an apartment remodel combining classic mid century pieces with his own furniture design.In both cases his work is minimal but complex. There is a sense of peace imbued in both. Private and public, sensual yet minimalist. (For those into hospitality design check out his website for inspiration.)

Barton Phelps

This post is more about exterior architecture than interior design because I couldn't resist posting the following photos from the portfolio of Barton Phelps and Associates. I can see why they've been published and awarded on many occasions. I love that the views from the surrounding landscape played a major role in their designs.
