Ina & Matt

I had a very VERY busy long weekend filled with driving furniture across the city, painting, hanging shelves, organizing my clothes and helping cats #8 and #9 adapt to living at my house. I wasn't sure I was going to have time to get a post ready for Tuesday but it's so freaking hot here (34°C with the humidity and it's 8:09 pm Monday night) that I need a short break. I found some interior design works of Netherland-based Studio Ina-Matt in a magazine recently (can't remember which one - I bought a stack of them when I hung out with my sister at the hospital a few weeks ago when her husband had a brain tumour removed) and their website is under mostly construction so I don't really have any background on them. Doesn't really matter as these photos speak for themselves. Their kitchens are divine, ones that I have only seen in my dreams I'm telling ya. Rustic and totally gorgeous. Perfectly understated.

Off the shelf retro

I'm still flipping through the pages of Storage, A House and Garden Book, Melinda Davis, Pantheon Books, New York, 1978. Fab homes and fab ideas. I'd move right in to any of them. OK I lie. I just can't do primary colours. Never could. So no red chairs and green walls and what I think is the world's largest stack of Componibili storage units. I will however spend tonight dreaming of the Shaker room. Sigh. Don't forget that there is more retro deliciousness after the jump.

Monday's pets on furniture

If you'd like to send us photos to include in next week's "pets on furniture" post, please ensure your photos follow our basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. (Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture...and your pet happens to be sitting on it). And second, the photo must be of decent quality. If it's dark or fuzzy (from a camera phone) then it may not make the cut. Thanks! (Photos, your name and a brief description can be sent to desiretoinspirekim@hotmail.com and PLEASE don't send me closeups of your pet!)

P.S. There are more adorable pets after the jump.

"Attached is a photo of my beautiful rescue cat, Nino Pazzo, sleeping in his favorite spot on my favorite vintage find, a Platner chair. He gets direct sun in that chair all morning and soaks up as much of it as he can. Check out his paw reaching for the last bit of sunlight. What a life!"

"i started to renovate my house in motovun, croatia at the beginning of this year. few days ago we had a huge party to celebrate the end of that big work....with the "new" house came also a new dog. 2 months old lagotto romagnolo. this is the most incredible puppy... he is marvellous. so, i have some nice photos of new house with a new puppy, and also "old" dog :)"

"This is my boxer Bartolo, when he was 3 months old (he is 9 right now, but still adorable)"
- Amparo (Uruguay)

"This is my dog Lola, who believes she is human, and sits like a human. She is a very serious, 5 yr old puggle."
- Jessica

"I'm Daisy, from Brazil. And this is Milá, my persian cat. In this picture her fur is short. She is on the bench made by myself."
- Daisy

"Hi, I thought I'd send a pic of my kitties enjoying some quiet times in their favorite chair.  They often fight over the coveted spot, although here we have Mama, Little Bighead, and Noodles napping together peacefully. Naturally, I had to get a picture of the moment."
- Jenny

"Bendrix on his favorite chair."

Patrick Sutton

Whether tailored and luxurious with sensuous leathers and rich woods and just a touch of refined masculinity or light and casually refined in that summer on the coast way, designer Patrick Sutton isn't easily pigeonholed. Unless you call contemporary elegance with just enough luxe a pigeonhole. His work is at once glamorous as well as stylishly and deceptively simple. It's romance and travel, luxury and layering. Life would be lovely in any of these rooms. As an aside I have a major design crush on the pink Murano chandelier married with those pink silk drapes. Love. More after the jump.

P.S. There's a store too ... oh my a very dangerous store.
