Stephen Shubel

Stephen Shubel Design is based in San Francisco and is a highly respected and recognized firm, having been featured in over 50 publications and been included in House Beautiful's Top 100 Designers list for the last eight years. Stephen's design aesthetic is so gorgeous, whether it be either neutral and leaning towards shabby chic, or traditional mixed with beautiful citrus shades of orange, green and yellow. Whichever style, the spaces are perfection.

Seaside sassy

One of our favourite interior designers Greg Natale (here, here, here, here, here and here, told you he is a favourite) has a fabulous feature in the latest Belle magazine. This seaside home in Sydney sees a departure from Greg's outrageous use of pattern but is still true to his design vibe and his great sense of colour. This man is versatile! The colours are so spot on for a sophisticated beach feel. If you haven't been by Greg's website for a while he has new work including a fabulous redesign of a Point Piper home.

Is it curtains for retro?

Never! Time for our weekly trip down design's memory lane. Drapes darlings, curtains my chickadees. More scanned images from from How to Make Your Windows Beautiful Vol V, Kirsch Company, Michigan, 1974. Perhaps a bit more "tasteful" than last week's? Hard to believe they come from the same book. Oh well I'm a sucker for the over the top awfulness of the era anyway. Note too the ubiquitous indoor plant and they're on their way back!

Long weekend reading

It's Australia Day here in, you guessed it, Australia. A time of the BBQ, lamb roasts, cricket, citizenship ceremonies and a long weekend. No WINKS today, no Jo's place post just a lovely long list of 3 day weekend reading. Some are new, some are old favourites, some aren't in English. All will keep you busy with lots of design lolly. Apologies to those that have to go to work on Monday. Think of me as I'm slaving over a roast leg of lamb for my dinner guests. YUM!
