A house in the hills

A rustic cabin (not really, how about cabin-like) in the hills of Ojai, California that is an absolute dream inside and out. That living room below is just about the most perfect relaxing hangout space (let's assume the rug is faux). Commune did a fantastic job on the decor - not too rustic with modern touches and their signature use of patterns/textures in pillows and blankets. My ideal home - and that pool is just a really sweet bonus. :)

I think I have found my dream home! What a beautiful serene looking place, inside and out.

For the living room, the details on the wood really make this place stand out. The rug is gorgeous and the stone fireplace is the heart of the room. The blue rug is amazing too!

California Dreamin'... I can only imagine the gazillion$ it took to achieve such laid-back rusticity, but it was well-spent. You can almost hear Joni Mitchell playing her piano somewhere across the canyon.

This style of decoration is awesome. I always had a passion for interior decorations.

I'd recognize that fireplace anywhere: Elmer Grey and Sumner Hunt's house built in 1909 for the Libbey glass family. The new additions harmonize well. Even the landscaping takes nothing away from the awesome view of the Topa Topas and the mature plantings. That house was in need of a lot of work (lower level, deck, sun room, and the kitchen!), but the bones were excellent. Not every old Craftsman has to be dark and filled to the gills with Stickley and Rookwood, especially in Ojai where eclectic crafts is a watchword. A truly pleasant surprise to see the new owner with funds respect exterior and interior with taste.
