A modern NYC townhouse

I love everything about this modern 3200 sq ft townhouse in Brooklyn by architect Ben Hansen. I want to pick it up and move it right where my existing crap 12' wide house is now. What's not to love?! A simple but modern exterior, massive windows on both ends to let in tons of light, several exterior spaces, unfussy, clean interior layout...this is going in my inspiration folder.

This industrial space is laid out very nicely. All areas are useful and complete while still keeping everything very clean and open. I love the blue staircase that threads through the space, very sophisticated color selection that adds interest without overwhelming. I think it may be the same paint color as the dresser in the kids room, do you know? Great material selections bring in natural elements (woods, marbles, etc.) that provide elegance and play nicely off of the man made, more industrial elements (tile, concrete block). Well done!

Love this place. What a great way to live in the city!

As someone who lives in NYC , and loves townhouses and modern, eco design I feel like I've died and gone to design heaven.. Every inch is utilized perfectly, furniture is light, but cozy, everything feels clean, yet cozy, half the sq. footage is outdoor, which is unbelievable for the city. The banister doesn't need to be solid and heavy, nor blue, it cuts the space and breaks the earthy, organic feel of the space, I'd replace it with a glass or cable railing.. Totally being finicky though..
Q: Anyone knows what the stone of the countertops is. Looks like petrified wood, but that's way expensive, I'm sure it's not.
Also that beautiful black/charcoal fireplace stone?
Thx

Love everything about it except the outdoor space with the children's swings.... It is directly attached to the neighbours wall looking straight in their windows!!! Too close!!

This place is so beautiful and utilitarian. Can you tell us how long construction like this takes -- one year? How much does it cost to bring a townhouse to this level -- 400k? This is my dream home!

Ryan, you'll have to ask the architect those questions. (IMHO #1 = at least #2 = more)
