Tulip chair extravaganza

Nuevo Estilo

When this post publishes I will be in Montreal with my mother's massive SUV (while she's partying it up with my dad in Paris) loaded up with a set of 8 tulip chairs for my dining room. I am super excited to have acquired these for a great price, and EIGHT of them! What this means is my husband has to get cracking on building me a new dining table. I'm thinking about a reclaimed wood top (not too rough) with some sort of powder coated steel base. Anyway, I thought it fitting that today I do a round-up of tulip chairs in dining rooms. Finding these photos has made me even more stoked about my latest furniture purchase. Photos to come ASAP! (Along with living room pics - the painting is just about complete!!!)

My favorite chair of all time! I think your Panton chairs are going to look fabulous in your living room. I'd like to give my two cents on the table you husband's going to build - I love giving my two cents as you know. :) Why not go the opposite direction and have a white powder coated top and reclaimed wood legs? Maybe the legs could even be dipped in say hot pink.

Anyhoo....what color are your cushions? Just can't wait to see your living room. On pins and needles here.

I like your idea Peggy for the table....but after seeing the damage my cats have done to the top of my existing dining table, I'd love to go rustic so I don't have to worry about their freaking nails making scratches all over.
The cushions are a brown velvet. Which will work for now. There was this orange dust all over them and I realized when I started vacuuming them that it's the foam inside disintegrating. So all of the cushions will need to be totally redone one day.

I just need to paint the living room alcoves (Jeff built shelves), do a bit of staging and then it's ready for some pics!

Oh so exciting! Can't wait to see it..... moody walls and white modern chairs. NICE! Like Peggy I can't help myself but to drop in my opinion since I attempted the whole barnboard thing.... If you are keen on a home-make barn board table, I suggest perhaps a resin (or less desirable Varathane) seal. I have a barnboard table top that WAS my ding room table (100 year old threshing room floor from the WoodSource in Manotick) on a vintage drafting table base and I have found it not so practical because the wood is so soft and flaky (with ground in ick from 100 years on a floor). While it does continue to develop patina, it is not super practical for eating and drinking. We made a barnboard bench for our kitchen and we sealed it with Varathane in the end to keep from getting too "patina-ed" (I have teenagers) but the Varathane did detract a bit form the look although it still is pretty nice. I also have a vintage work table/kitchen island (that goes with the bench) that I have topped with an Ikea stainless counter top that both looks good and works pretty well. Perhaps a nice live edge table, which would look sweet with the modern base but would be a little sturdier surface?

I assume you got white chairs. Rhey will for sure look great with the table you described! I have a white wooden table and my cats never did anything to it. Nor to my living room table, also solid white wood. But our huge cat tree looks gross. And I have to soon buy a new one.

I love the Tulipe Chair and the photos you posted are just amazing. I love the photo of the White Tulip Chair with the gold tulip table. I purchased mine at Diiiz.
The quality of the chairs is great but they dont have the gold tulipe table.
Do you know where I could buy it?

Thanks
Mario
