Desert farmhouse
Modern family needs and aged Mediterranean patina and all of this is Scottsdale, Arizona. Based on a rural farmhouse the home surrounds a central courtyard with pool providing ample opportunity to tie the inside to the the out. A series of intimate rooms not large open plan areas ensures the home, though large, is on a more human scale. New yet old, relaxed yet sophisticated. Grandiose. Obscene. SO Scottsdale.
The house is way too big for my taste. But give me the kitchen. I could live in that kitchen.
Interesting building, it's probably a lot of fun to navigate through. While there are few pieces here and there that work - the low couches, for instance - the deco decisions are a bit off. Too many over-done statement pieces are mixed in, just too much altogether. A serious weeding out would help immensely. First to go -- those bulky wooden coffee tables! Then, different drapes...
There are some great details here and there but to me it lacks personality. I love houses that you can tell a little bit about the occupants.
