Rustic with a twist
While I'm on a role with rustic interiors, how about another one? This completely renovated cabin is located in the town of Megéve in the French Alps. It was a 2 year project to renovate the 1870 structure, and was decorated by Belgian decorator Lionel Jadot. It's filled with an unexpected mix of vintage finds and elements from trips to Africa, Asia and Europe. The decor is a fantastic surprise, but I'm a little taken aback by the Bisazza tiles on the kitchen island. Those don't make sense to me for this home - they're too elegant. Everything else = LOVE!!! I agree about the kitchen. The whole thing seems out of place. Otherwise it is great. Love the fireplace and all the windows.
the bones of the structure are beautiful and many of the pieces are great on their own... but the place as a whole is too ungapatchka for my taste.
I thought the kitchen unit was beautiful, despite being out of place... Otherwise, this is a fun and relaxed holiday house - great for hanging out with a bunch of friends.
I like the kitchen tile. I think the floral pattern reflects the use of textiles accenting the home. This isn't really to my taste but it's well planned and interesting. As far as I'm concerned, the caveman bathroom is a lot more troublesome than the kitchen tile.
I really liked the kitchen tile and thought it was a good contrast for all the rustic wood everywhere else in the main room. Beautiful setting and would love to relax and have a glass of wine with a roaring fire. I like the eclectic taste.
Way too much money thrown at what essentially should be a ski chalet.

I only looked up the definition of "ungaptatchka" after having posted my comment and had a huge belly laugh as it is such an apt description. For those - like myself - who do not know the meaning, here the definition of this wonderfully descriptive term:
a Yiddish word that describes the overly ornate, busy, ridiculously over-decorated, and garnished to the point of distaste.
Love the wacky kitchen tiles. Best part of the house IMHO.
Wow - I just love the rustic appeal of the wood. And that bath at the end I would love that in my house. Absolutely brilliant.
YES to this! I could imagine crashing here after a hard day of skiing
This chalet makes me wonder what the decorater did...
The furniture and the textiles are selfsuficient and wouldn't need all these work on the walls like the library. This yiddish word is totaly appropriated!
What a beautiful place...thanks for sharing. I can only dream of making my own as cozy as this...we'll see
