Seductive Interiors

Interior designer Sera Hersham-Loftus is the queen of romantic, seductive interiors. We love her work so much we've blogged her work several times over the years (here, here, here and here). I was so excited when her goddaughter emailed us with the news that Sera has come out with a book! It's aptly names Seductive Interiors (CICO Books) and it looks fabulous! From the press release: Seductive Interiors displays homes which Sera has decorated as well as those that have simply ‘seduced’ her – each epitomizing the spirit of Sera – which could be described as ‘a heady mix of romanticism, passion, and playfulness.’ Sera likes to live in a loose, informal style that is reflected in her interiors. Most of her furnishings come from antique markets or vintage shops. Her look is essentially ‘a concoction of enchanting soft lighting, charming antique and bohemian furnishings, oriental bric-a-brac, and more than a teaspoon of The Blues and Rock-‘n’-Roll.’ Essentially, it's HOT STUFF. ... okay. Well. Either an interior design lends itself to a seductive vibe, or it doesn't. No amount of soft focus, vaseline-lensed photography (or toga-draped women -- why no half-clad men?!) will help. I wish that the designer (and publisher, I suppose) had had a little more faith in the work, and in our ability to supply the romance. You don't need to list shutters as part of the view if you haven't whited out the existence of those shutters. What wall color was used? Could be charcoal, could be chalkboard paint, maybe it's chocolate? Nope, no idea. The sharper images, showing us the textures of floorboards and utilizing the clarity of depth and layering -- which is really where seduction comes to life -- are very nice!
These are such beautiful photographs and interiors, such a feminine appeal. I am sure the book would be really inspiring and right up my street.

Yes, I am a fan. I may have left out the strategically placed ladies, but I think Sera's interiors are totally fantastical, sexy and original.
Mwoah. Layout is not their forte. I think I'll pass on this one.
I'm so glad you posted these pictures I absolutely love them. I suppose it's a good thing that we are all different. I am a fan of the Nordic/French Shabby Chic style. I saw some of these pictures on another blog and have already ordered the book. At my age now all I want to do is read good books, be warm and cozy, have wonderful things to look at and relax.
I don't have a problem with the interiors or the "toga-draped ladies" as much as I have a problem with the words all over the pictures. No.
