Quotel
Back in November I blogged the office of mode:lina, an architecture firm based in Poland. They emailed us recently with one of their latest projects - an apartment designed for guests visiting the PoznaĆ International Fair. It's called the QUOTEL (combination of the words "quote" and "hotel"). This specific customer defines the nature of this apartment - at the crossroads of hotel features and relaxed homely atmosphere. The challenge was to use easily replaceable parts (here:IKEA) and create a space that definitely stands out among other similar offers on the market. Designers faithful to the principle of crossing-over, combined catalogue elements with custom-made ones to create an affordable and durable design giving the impression of tailored interior. I dig the modern minimalism with great use of Ikea products, colour that adds some life, and the phrases on the walls are a fun, cheap and at times cheeky form of artwork. (Oh, and those floors!!)
***Totally off topic: My parents, twin sister and I are having a garage sale tomorow out in Cumberland (parents' house - they have the longest driveway, from 8am-noonish) so you can stop at the Cumberland Market, pick up some fruits and veggies, then drive up the road about 100 feet and come check out our junk!!

What a great space, I love that it is done so affordably using Ikea and inexpensive materials but looks so beautiful. Clean and modern, but welcoming. Thanks for sharing!
I love the "Are You Hungry" - Its awesome!!!
Great interiors, but I'm afraid my answer to that question on the wall would always be: ''Yes, I am'' :)
I'm from Brazil, but I see your blog every day ... I love! When you have time come to see mine, will be a pleasure!
Love, Kika
hurray, poland! i must say i love seeing an inspiring interior done without $6K chairs $20K lighting and this space proves it can be done.
wow - great space. xox
I really like the room with the black couch, although wish it was on the other wall with a split wooden storage bench to utilize the door it covered up
Thanks for this post. It's so common to have projects go over budget these days so it's refreshing to see that you can still do things in style while on a budget. I guess it's like getting dressed: mix a bit of your affordable items with signature pieces. Those herringbone floors are gorgeous and definitely make the space look like more than just an Ikea fit-out!
Was looking for similar shelves to those in the bedrooms (headboard in green room and center shelf in red room) on Ikea's website but didn't see anything. Anyone have a link?
wow, thank you - i find this Quotel very "refreshing" and would stay there indeedly :)
j'adore all the floors as well, especially the one/visible in "the kitchen".
seems like polished concrete finished with ? (just me curiuos to know)
my only 2 caveats (actually on of my few ID "no-gos") due to many/various RL-experiences are "the green BR" and the "acid-green" used in the BR.
and i wouldn't use decals in every room (instead just 1 well-placed framed poster in the other rooms - i know that the decals are cheaper though).
@reallyseth - imho in both rooms you mention they used the Broder-system*
(attn : if used this way, this system must be fixed/screwed at the ceiling/top; max. h = 319 cm.
but it is not necessary to use 2x2 freestanding poles like in "the red room".
i do like the structural effect though. )
I have used it various times, also DIY in my own home, as well as for a contemp. walk-in dressing room and like e.g. the versatility when combined with custom-made boards e.a.
*except for the top wood-hood and bed in "the green" room which imho are custom-made.
By any chance do you know where I could find the light fixture in the entry way? (the one with all the bulbs)
