Monday's pets on furniture

If you'd like to send us photos to include in next week's "pets on furniture" post, please ensure your photos follow our basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture that you want to show off...and your pet happens to be sitting on it. And second, the photo must be of decent quality. If it's dark or fuzzy (from a camera phone) then it may not make the cut. Thanks! (Photos, your name, location and a brief description can be sent to  desiretoinspirekim@hotmail.com and PLEASE don't send closeups of your pet!)

Our dear friend Paige took picts of our new boy
In our new house
Of course keeping him on this stool was nearly impossible
I’m not even sure he would fit now
Samson is a boxer mix we found at the post office.
Total dude. Totally in love.
- Andria (Denver CO)

bella- my assistant. bella likes to investigate anything different, rearranged furniture, flowers, or anything new that comes into our home. here she wants to climb on the ladder for a closer look.
- Cheryl

This is my carved wood Louis the XVI nailhead chair covered with Belgium linen and my 14 year old little white Schnauzer Oliver. He loves chairs!
- Patricia (Dallas)

Hamlet, my Wire Fox Terrier, on his favorite chair, a reupholstered street find from before the bed-bug era...
Here he is joined on the chair by his boyfriend, Buster. (Not as good a pic of the chair, tho :( )
- Mark (Inwood, Manhattan)

I've attached a shot of our dear Sophie on a vintage wing chair. (A dead ringer for Carol Channing) as well as Olivier on our front porch.
- Larry (
High Falls, NY)

This is my 6-month-old Modesto chair from Arhaus with my 3-year-old cat, Xander, doing a faceplant on it. Of course his preferred napping spot is velvet and requires a daily defuzzing.
- Kim (Chicago)

I've just recently started a blog and while trying to do a tour of my living room, I could not get my dog, Opie to leave the room.  I affectionately call him our guard dog.  That's quite a misnomer because he is probably the most laid back dog you'd ever meet..
- Suzy (Greensboro, NC)

This is my 2 year old cat Aster on top of a cabinet that once belonged to my grandmother. She loves to get up there to get away from the other 3 cats.
- Pam (Cincinnati, OH)

Here is Hamish (the Scottish Fold) sitting in my husband's study - on his bookcase. Hamish is a rescue pet who has fallen on his feet. He is 3 years old and has been with us for a few weeks. He adores my husband Jim.
- Jill and Jim (Northcote, Vic.)

This is our rescue cat, Poppy, lounging in the late afternoon sun on the bay window in the dining area of our kitchen diner (kind of furniture, kind of not..tenuous link?!). We've been in our bungalow for 7 months now and are slowly renovating it. You'll notice the georgian effect windows (new!) contrast nicely against the cream wood-chip wallpaper and HIDEOUS floral curtains (old!).
- Kate (Hayling Island, Hampshire, England)

And not really related to pets on furniture but just pets, below is a photo I took to document the cat drama my husband and I have been dealing with since Friday morning. :( See the full story here.

Yay! Thank You so much for including Sophie and Olivier. Coming up soon will be Benjamin, Felicia Lilian, and Rosie. The sweetest 22 year old feline you've ever seen. She lives in the most stunning suite.

Hurray for Hamish the Scottish Fold! I know him and he's gorgeous, as are his new family!

How lovely to see that so many of these animals are rescued pets (of course it would be better if no rescuing were needed), and they are all so cute!
I loved the faceplant picture, it made me laugh!

Opie says thank you so much for featuring me in my guard dog state of alertness on the living room couch! Just waiting for something to pass in my line of vision or hearing to bark at...

Oh yeah - my owner wants to thank you too - from the bottom of her heart.

Just read the story of what's been going on with your neighbor's cats. Heartbreaking. But how fortunate that only one is still missing! (If I read the story correctly.) I can only imagine the incredible gratitude your neighbor will hear if he ever discovers what you've done for his animals.

*your neighbor will feel

not hear... O.o

The sad story of the 5 cats whose owner is ill, makes me sure that all pet owners should have "Godparents" for their animals. Mine do - so I know if they outlive me, a kind person will take over their care. I inherited a sad pussy whose owner died, and this little cat is still traumatized by the neglect she suffered before we took her in. We have had her for 6 years, love her to bits, and she loves us, but still won't let us handle her. Jill.
