A cool bachelor pad
My brother-in-law Dave is always sending me links to homes that he has spotted on various websites, in the hopes that one day I'd find one worthy of blogging about. Well, I'm finally blogging one. He found the home here, but it was originally featured in New York Magazine. It's the 2100 sq ft Brooklyn bachelor pad of "Blue's Clues" star Steve Burns, designed by Mesh Architectures. I love the industrial feel, the exterior is totally rad, the catwalk on the second floor (inside and out) and the private courtyard. A home worthy of the pages of Dwell mag, if it hasn't already been featured there.

Love it. I particularly like the variety of outdoor spaces. The use of the interior courtyard shows that sometimes you get the best result from NOT building out the entire lot. And the rustic materials are fun in the midst of the city! I'll take it!
What an amazing find..love everything here..the staircase, kitchen, the sectional..outdoor spaces...everything!! xx meenal
dwell's home tours are rarely my thing, but this space is brilliant! Love the outdoor space and how it interacts with the interiors. The intriguing front door is pretty fun, too!
Great pictures! The indoor fireplace is a great touch, a fire always brings people together. Did anyone notice the the Home Theater setup? Its in picture 4 and 6. My only suggestion is replacing the outdoor grill with a gas one.
Cheers,
Adam
LOVE THIS. I need it. all of it.
Someone find a way to get Blue's Clues canceled so I can buy it!
Wow! I'm not a bachelor, but I wanna move there today!
Wow. Who knew children's programming paid so well?
P.S. He was much better than the current host.
All this AND he can balance a chair on his chin, wow just wow.
Oh yeah - I'm one of those lame people in LA that still subscribes to NY mag because it reminds me of NY and how much cooler it is. That loft / townhouse is pretty rad. Amazing to have that kind of outdoor space in BKLYN.
What a great place...loving the outdoor space!!
It almost hurts - it's so bloody gorgeous!
What a great place! I fantasize about having a place where the outside and the inside blur like this. I wonder about all that wood, though. I am a terrible allergy sufferer. Does anyone know if this sort of home is very dusty?
perfect really...perfect
Agreed, a beautiful space. Love the lack of 'stuff'.
I love this cool pad - contempory, modern - earthy and warm - what a great mix.
All that space ( indoor and out) in Brooklyn! what a fantastic place!!!
So cool. I love that he's outside in the courtyard balancing the chair on his head!
I would stay put there too! It's awesome.
i love this pad!! I can see my self, esp my 2 boys living in this place...the interiors... but not the neighborhood....
It is absolutely relaxing and neat!
winner! bachelor with teenage son has found inspiration for his bondi home at last!........ many thanks
I too love this place. I've lost count of how many times I scrolled up and down trying to figure out the floorplan. I want to see all the unaccounted for spaces too! One thing though. Wouldn't you need terribly long arms to reach that alarm clock in the morning?
awesome space, but so totally distracted by the scrape marks on the floor in pic 4 - do you think they moved the sofa from against the wall??? (so sad I got distracted by such a little thing, I know ;) ).
LOL - romana, I noticed too!!
I walked passed this house last weekend and thought it was so cool!!
Espectacular!
