Stalking in New Zealand

It's Spring in New Zealand (lucky b*stards) and Sammy, a Kiwi and regular reader of this here blog kindly sent along some more links to homes there as the market is "exploding with gorgeous summery homes" as she put it. *still hatin'* One of the homes she linked to, located in Auckland, caught my attention. It's got some odd decor choices here and there but overall I think the owners did a great job. I love the kitchen and the exterior is adorable (we don't really have cute houses here in Ottawa). Link while it lasts. Thanks Sammy!

A strange disconnect for me between the really cute vintage exterior and the sleek, modern loft like interior. Love the outside, it feels like Grandma's house, but the interior is too removed, too cold and sterile, maybe tried to be too hip.

Beautiful. And pet between furniture ... ;

I agree, the décor is inconsistent, and whoever their gib-stopper/plasterer is need firing (refer ceiling in picture five) but it is a stunning home, and with a few minor revisions, I'd happily move in. I like the contrast between the older style exterior and more modern interior.

I'm loving this fabulous home!! Personally I'm very fond of modern decor juxtaposed with a vintage, character-filled home.
Victoria

Being such a young country - this Victorian villa is about about as old as it gets. It is very fashionable to keep the traditional facade then extend with a grand room out the back. I love the stained glass windows contrasted with white. Thanks for posting Kim :)

I just love the Kiwi villas, the weather board and fretwork are so characteristic of the architecture in and around the cities. I love the feeling of surprise you get upon entering the front door to open plan living, big white spaces done very modern. I live in Sydney and I renovate old houses, for pleasure. I adapt the same approach in keeping with the facade and then gutting the insides, opening up the entire area and totally modernizing the living areas with the importance on flow through to the back garden.

I am a fellow New Zealander enjoying the start of our Summer. I love the outside of this home, both at the front and the back, and the hallway with the long runner. The little studio out the back is very cute. xxx

definitely some odd decor but they have managed to make it work, over all. i really like the home's layout, particularly the long hallway and kitchen leading onto a deck.

Lovely - its great to see some New Zealand on here :) This is the kind of houses i dream of owning one day..they are soo beautiful! What a lovely renovation - but yes i do agree the inside looks a bit too modern, i would have still kept it vintage :)

Love it. This post gives me that great feeling you get when you've just cleaned your whole house. Livable, but spacious and clean.
