From dump to dream ... a complete renovation of a row house

They've done it again. Washington D.C. design duo Adams & Duke have taken an utter dive and created a dream home with 3 bedrooms and 3.5 baths. There's even a lower level suite. Sonia first shared Adams & Duke's work back in August and it caused quite a sensation. Now the second project is complete. You won't believe the change after the jump. Yes you have to step warily through the before shots first but that only makes the afters even more spectacular. I would have run screaming from the original house. Hard work, good design and real estate savvy pay off big time.

The befores ...

A teaser to give you hope ...

Back to the horror ...

And now the afters ....

Bravo! I only hope it's in a decent neighbourhood and they haven't overcapitilised. Renos like that don't come cheap.

i am amazed. such smart design and layout choices! it looks way bigger than i'm sure it used to feel. that is one impressive makeover!

Wow. Incredible. I live in an expanding city where there's a ton of new construction. I'll never understand why people want to build new homes in cookie-cutter subdivisions when there gems like this waiting to be uncovered not far away. Letting old homes like this fall to ruin is such a waste.

I need to know where that leafy rug in the entrance level living room (one of the first reno pictures) comes from. I need that. Also, I'm going to put those betweener open built-ins between my living and dining rooms when the day comes.

It's funny, I can't decide if this raises or LOWERS the value of the neighbors' homes! Think about it... from this house looking like the crack den... and now everyone ELSE'S looks like the ghetto. : )

Beautiful, restrained look. And obviously a very generous budget: whatever visuals are impressive in the photos, there's five times as much money/time poured into the wiring, plumbing, structural work.

Brilliant! One would never think that such a run down dump could turn into ( with major amounts of difficult work ) a raving beauty. What a fresh home that anyone would be proud to live in.

I would like to know the price to create such a transformation. What is a healthy budget to consider a remodel for a place this size?
