... you're in for a big surprise. Sometimes mother nature wraps you up in her beauty and takes your breath away. Sometimes architects get this. Sometimes they wrap you up in the beauty they create, in buildings that address the wonder of the site in which they are placed. I think I am in love with this Dutchess County, New York guesthouse by Allied Works Architecture. Located in a mature deciduous forest of oak, hickory, and birch. A continuous structural steel frame blurs the boundary between forest and house. It seems to meander, to wind in and out capturing views of the changing seasons.

The use of steal in the clean lines of the architecture against the forest is so appealing. I like the built-in shelving with doors and the couch looks sleek yet warm and cozy.
Who doesn't like nature? Looks like a beautiful site for the house. Refreshing.

Absolutely amazing place. Completely at one with it's setting, yet a place apart. Beautiful, sensitive architecture.

I am just beginning the process of down-sizing. I'm looking for a small 1.5 bedrooms with modern appeal. Your guest house is fantastic! Can I ask what it cost to construct? Were you the designer or did you hire an architect? Are the plans for sale?
