Mini kitchen makeover
Before
A lot of us know the problem. A new house, a perfectly serviceable but very tired kitchen, a limited budget and ... well .. you know you really can't justify a complete gut because even though those cabinets aren't really your taste they are just too good to rip out and throw away. Sydney-sider Sarah from everydaythingsetc had just that problem and being a sensible woman she decided to work around what she had. After all even though she hated those oregon cupboards she knew that whatever she got to replace them, with her budget they would be nowhere near the quality. Paint the cabinets, new tile, a new benchtop (the old one was peeling away), more paint on the walls and done. Done in stages that is :) Thanks for the pics Sarah.

love this!
great transformation - the cupboard colour is hot and those new tiles just bring the whole look up to date!
i saw the photo with the brick walls and got really excited - sad that it got covered by tile again as it was amazing! oh well.
HAhaha! I was thinking the same as amber!
But the subway tile is sweet too and easier to care for - Also, more modern FOR SURE than the square ones.
I like that they kept the old handles for the most part too - that would save a few bucks! and the countertop looks FAB.
great transformation. love the colour of the cabinets.
Can someone tell me what kind/color/brand of countertops those are?! The reason is...if she did this on a small budget, those look great for being economical! They look like solid surface tops. Also they are very much like what I want in my kitchen reno.
oh my gosh, that brick!!!!
If it were mine, I would have left it...so much character-
looks good though
I just love the cabinets! What a great makeover! Why are they called "oregon" cabinets -- is that an Australian term?
Daang, she made those cabinets look good. And the tile is probably a lot easier to keep clean than the brick - but it's good to know she has the optionality!
I thought she was going to leave the brick too - you can always cover them with clear, glass splash backs for easy maintenance, the white looks very fresh though. Love it.
I love this transformation! How lucky that she already had a well-built and solid kitchen before moving in. I know my old apartment had to be completely gutted because the kitchen was made from falling-apart-particleboard! :(
the new kitchen is amazing!!
Well done, I'm sure even though it was 'mini' it wasn't cheap or easy. Every time I see a Dualit 4 slice toaster I lament having bought only the 2 slice mobel
What a lovely transformation. I am so tired of people asking for "green" remodels and then tearing out perfectly good cabinets and tossing them in a dumpster! Well done.
I love the design. You had maximize the space and it looks like convenient to cook for foods. :) Well done!
Would love to know the color of the cabinets..Love it
