Besides looking great, I'm sure an antique safe would be a ton of fun for the kids and adults.

Speaking of large amounts of fun, some of these beasts can weight up to several 1000 kg. So, that's really tonnes we're talking about. For example, a 150 cm tall antique safe with banker's interior, jeweller's chest, steel deposit boxes, etc. can weight well over 2000 kg.

But they do look nice! So, if your home's structure can hold the weight, why not?

We have one that size as a bedside table and it's perfect and two people carried it up two flights of stairs so it's not TOO heavy. It's so wonderful when your design choices are seconded!

That is way cute :) I love re-purposing things like that!

I'm seriously jealous. Where do people go to find these treasures ? I stalk flea market on a regular basis but never find anything nearly as cool !

OMG! I need to find one too!

Kim, I saw this IDENTICAL safe at Aubrey's on Bank (in Greely). The lady said it was sold over 3 months ago and the gentleman hadn't come in to pick it up. You should call and see if it is still there, I bet she would sell it to you at this point!! Good luck!

Bummer - it's gone.
My husband found a 6' tall one on Kijiji for $1000. It's AMAZING but weighs 2400 lbs and you'd need to keep it in the basement so it doesn't go crashing through your house. LOL

I'm very interested in how you find these great treasures
