ONG&ONG

More hot Singapore design. We've focused on apartments before but there are a lucky few who possess that most valuable of quantities on this populous island state .... land no matter how small. These stunning heritage architecture homes are in Singapore's conservation zones. Many are shop houses but behind their immaculately preserved historical facades hide stunning modern homes where every square inch is devoted to living life well. All were designed by one of South-East Asia's leading architectural firms ONG&ONG. Beautiful, considerate of heritage and spatially clever! More after the jump.

What treasures are so often hidden from the public eye! That blue pool was so delightly unexpected. Thanks for posting :)

It isn't often that we get to see such immaculately designed houses - especially behind that facade - in Singapore. I am an expat and has lived there for nearly a decade. Such delights sure make me appreciate this tiny little city island state more. Thanks for sharing!(:

Wow! Gorgeous spaces!...really, quite perfect! Thanks for sharing!

This makes me drool!!!

Stunning! Just love it. Was in Singapore a few years ago and always dreamed of what the insides of these traditional clan homes looked like. Beyond my imagination!

I am an expat and have lived in Singapore for over 6 years now, and a friend in NZ sent me this link, to see what I have been missing out on in my own city. I am in awe of the design and beauty created here. Spectacular. These pictures make me want to go out and buy a Shophouse, a part of history, restore to such splendour. What was amazing was the size, hidden behind the front door, like the journey we used to take on Kim Yam looking through the John Erdos Gallery. I makes me think I could actually fit my family within one. What an amazing city to have such modern thinking clever designers right under my nose. Being home with the children, and not taking a good look of the outstanding archictecture. I owe a debt of gratitude to my friend in Akl, who sent me this link on her facebook telling me about one of her favourite websites. We have just shifted from a 3 storey semi D in Dunbar Walk off Frankel Ave, Siglap on the East Coast with a totally opposite interior, but good size with high ceilings. I didn't even realise you could have such a vision. Thankyou Sam. Thank you to the designers of this website for sharing such beauty with us all. You have given me a new vision, and definitely inspired me.

Wow, I have seen these houses from the outside, wish I could have gotten inside. Beautiful photography too.

Wow! I'm speechless after looking at these stunning creations that actually exist in my home country!

I love the first house, although I would do something about the ceiling lamps (I would put something a bit more grandiose)

Wow.... one day I want to work for Ong & Ong.

Why... are there a preponderence of pools? Indoors? Is this an ONG&ONG thing, or a Singapore thing? Oh, and me likey! but wow, it all seems seriosly masculine.

oregonbird: I think it is because of our climate. Waterbodies help to bring down the temperature and regulate it especially in the heat of the afternoons. Even though the pools are indoors, they are all naturally ventilated spaces.
