Gary Spain

I came across the portfolio of San Francisco interior designer Gary Spain the other night and was immediately smitten with his work. He's like a less wacky version of Jonathan Adler. You may have seen him on a few blogs already (as I noticed when googling him) but I had to jump on the bandwagon because I really admire his funky spaces. A plethora of colour, pattern and furniture of different eras creating an ecelctic and modern vibe.

I love that description. I less wacky version of Jonathan Adler. Too funny (and true). Lovely.

I love the striped carpet pieces, and the way they are assembled. I have made note, to research Mr. Spain in depth at a later time.
How was your weekend?

I love how he combines patterns. I love the idea of it, but it's so hard to pull off - he does it really well.

Okay, I am no longer embarrassed about keeping a 5-ft. blow-up doll of 'The Scream' in my bathtub! Not that I was, the pale faces of my guests are thanks enough. See, if you layer, something magical happens -- who knew that bookcase wallpaper could be anything but tacky? I have to say, the last two photos seem to be from a different portfolio altogether -- restraint? Really?

Love this designer. I have to say his style is so very San Francisco... It reminds me why I love my city so much. I think that first shot might be my favorite.

I love so many of these rooms! Makes we want to make my own home more edgy! I absolutely love eclectic living! Mixing different styles and textures with old and new. And an old marble bust is so on my wish list.

Hugs to you both,

Mon

This is a joke, right? One good room (second last photo) - the rest are a bit of a dog's breakfast. You sassy lass, you.

denise, speaking of jokes, you have got to be kidding me.

Yep I couldn't live in any of these rooms apart from the last 2. I like a bit of humour but these are too much.

I'm with Jesse Lu---I really like these. I think living in San Francisco for a decade opened me wide up to loving spaces with this vibe. I sometimes miss the City, but it's still in my heart. Yay-O!

he's definitely out there but i LOVE it! that punchy wallpaper is fantastic and the accessories — topiaries, an oversized clock (to die for!), and antlers galore — are unique and fun. awesome post!

Because the furniture from the last two shots is all Room & Board, I think its a separate project
