Easter reading guide part 1

... hot cross buns

Holiday time is reading guide time on Desire to Inspire. All year round I flit from blog to blog, lurking but loving what I find. As I write this I have a pot of peppermint tea beside me and I'm thinking of warming some hot cross buns. Care to join me for a cuppa and a visit to some wonderful blogs?

I join you for tea - but skip the buns ( I am telling you that this whole blogging adventure is making my way too chubby!). Always fun to read your blog finds! Several of them I already know - and they are great!

Happy Easter to you both!

Much fondness, Mon

Oh my goodness...I'm so so so flattered. Thank you so much featuring White Cabana. I'm enjoying a nice vanilla Rooibos (and Italian chocolates!) this morning. I figure it's perfectly healthy to have chocolate as a breakfast snack on Easter weekend.

This is in answer to the curtains question. I've found that curtains look best hung close to the ceiling, as it makes the room look taller. I've also found that the volume of the curtain should usually be conmesurate (sp?) to the room: a small room generally looks smaller with heavy or tightly-pleated drapes.

I don't know where you live or the purpose your curtains will serve. That said, I find trying matchstick blinds before hanging curtains is a good idea, particularly in smaller rooms or abodes. The blinds do not take up visual space if their color is similar to that of the walls, and the look is very nice and very chic. The blinds themselves are very inexpensive.

I live in New York City, with poor views and small rooms. This is what I have:

In my living, dining and kitchen, I hung matchstick blinds. They hang closed even with the window open and allow air to flow through them. They block the ugly view but allow the light to come in. Finally, they take up very little visual space.

In my bedroom, I have dark reed blinds for light control. Then I have heavy but almost unpleated curtains hanging on a rod close to the ceiling. Closed, the curtains provide light control and mute the sound. I have the same curtains hung in front of my doorless closet; thus the room has a leitmotif and, since the curtains are a textured yellow that is almost ivory, they provide a very serene environment and go with everything.

Good luck with your project!

Terry

PS: Blog authors: I adore this blog and look at it daily. Thank you for providing daily beauty to my life.
