Reader request - bookshelves
Sigrid from Norway emailed with a reader request that I thought I'd tackle today, because it's an easy one. :) "I love library and rooms and walls full with bookshelves. I would be honoured if you could post some pictures of rooms and walls full with bookshelves." I would give anything to have a library, a room filled with floor to ceiling bookcases to fill with my ever-growing collection of shelter mags and books. I love to see how people cope with their own book and mag collections. Here are some rooms where large collections are easily stored away.

Hi Kim,
Great post! I love bookshelves, and these are some amazing pictures. I'm just facing an overloaded bookshelf dilemma myself. Our old Ikea shelves from when we first moved out are way overloaded and falling apart now.
Just stumbled in. Thumbs up!
Hi Mike!!!

dang what's someone gon do with all dem books?
Ooooh you can learn anything and go anywhere
without leaving home. I love it.
The different designs can fit your mood for each day !
Go for it!
My kind of rooms. Thanks!
those are seriously incredible, i wish i had more money or a house
We have both built in a free standing (ikea type) bookshelves. I also like the over the door shelves, but as I already struggle with the too high shelves, I think I would avoid it unless you can afford to install one of those wonderful sliding ladders. We have a folding step stool, but it is ugly and clunking and I always have to put it away if I am going to have company.
Wouldn't it be nice to be able to afford bookshels that large, I wish I could, show off's.
think you'll like this then!!

Don't judge a book by its cover? remember? I wish I could afford to so prominently display my knowledge-base. so very, very bitter. Anyone want to create Library Island with me?
this was a beautiful post. I also have to put two rows on one shelf...and I always worry the little ones at the back get jealous and so Itry to swap them round sometimes. (Just so I don't forget what's back there!)
This is why we have ebook readers now :D
great photos! absolutely amazing!
i love the first few as they have the old world charm that appeals to me more than the modern ones
thanks for posting
What a pretty pictures! It's so nice to see such a wonderfully great amount of bookshelves and books on them!!!
my breathing changes when I enter a room full of books - I sigh and inhale deeply ----------- unfortunately i have downsized, so no longer have a large library. I gave my books to good homes. It is nice to know that you fellow bibliophiles are out there. thanks for sharing these wonderful rooms. (actually once a bibliophile always a bibliophile - my books are starting to pile up... )
postscript: my son bought me an e-reader - i am a speed reader so am finding it hard to wait to flip a page after every couple of paragraphs - where do I put all my creative bookmarks? I asked a librarian once what was the strangest bookmark she found left in a returned book.......... no word of a lie she said "bacon: - I have not gone that far.. but I babble on.

Love them all. Near every bookshelf should be a nice, comfy chair with a footrest and a good reading light. Heaven.
There is hardware that can be used to make bookshelf doors.
I don't know what it is about being in a space filled with books, but it feels comforting. Being in a well designed space with beautiful books, is even better. Thanks for the post. It's beautiful and there are lots of ideas in there.
i hope book shelves thrive in the new era of e-book readers
Wow! When I have my own house, I'd build a room solely for books!
i like this website thanks for sharing it.
Loved the photos, so much inspirations and so many ways to do it!
Thanks again!
I can think of few experiences more comforting or satisfying than seeing or sitting a room full of books whether mine or others. In a cross-country move several years ago, a number of boxes of books were lost. The recovered monies were spent in -- yes, bookshelves for the future! A great investment!
Thanks for sharing. . . .
Dude I saw bookcase stairs one time. genius. plain and simple.
