Extreme gingerbread
As I promised yesterday, here is another project by Priscilla Glover and Ivan Spaller of Urban Nature Inc., thanks to Tammy, their realtor. This time it's a Victorian home built in 1890 that was moved from Marlin, Texas to the heart of Austin - which explains why Tammy calls it "extreme gingerbread". The entire home was restored and updated in just over a year, maintaining much of the classical architecture while adding modern touches. I'm completely smitten with the exterior. Who cares what the inside looks like - I'd be sold on it while pulling up out front. (See more photos here and check out more of their work here).

that is the neighborhood I used to live in- it's gotten a lot nicer in the past 10 years!
The modern loft and windows in the back are such a surprise! I would love to live in that house :)
I've got a boner!
I drive by this house every day, during the renovation i was constantly rubbernecking to see what was new. This house is a gem in a neighborhood that's plagued with far too many old houses being sold for the lot only, to be replaced with an ill conceived concrete box. IMO a little modern mix in an old neighborhood is nice, but this Bouldin Creek area borders on too far. It's about to get boring.
Major kudos to the Urban Nature folks, it's lovely to see character and craftsmanship added back into a neighborhood.
Love this house. Wish all houses were authentic. Boudlin Creek neighborhood is definitely improving thanks to builders like Urban Nature, Inc.
wow! love it love it love it. I love the back yard. If it were mine, I'd add a flower/herb/veggie garden where the pretty green grass is!
Wow! What a gorgeous house! I live in Austin, too, and I love that people are working so hard to preserve homes like this and neighborhood character! Love it!
I am in love.
This is my dream house.
Perfect.
IT is gorgeous.... what a lovely home!.
the inside was such a suprise! I expected a much more shabby chic look - the kitchen, dining room are so sophisticated, and I LOVE the styling of the family (?) rooms bookshelves - they breathe.
Cheers to mixing it up while still maintaining some integrity in design - love that they didn't thoughtlessly tear down and replace with something cookie cutter. Marija
Love the contrast of the elegant outside with the kooky mix of periods inside...now it just needs some landscaping worthy of that delicious exterior...
I like how they painted the porch ceilings light blue. Really well done! Thanks for sharing.
Love that porch! And the little outbuilding. Maybe one day...*sigh*
I am in love! What an amazing combination of traditional, modern and whimsical. Know I will be back again and again just to drool!
you have a lot of fans in Austin! i too, drive by this house frequently and dream of living there. The trim detail is outstanding! it makes me happy that you have posted a home from my home town.
Tastefully done! The outside makes you want to explore inside.
Absolutely stunning home!
The porch, the kitchen, the entryway, the simplicity of the bedroom. Makes my blood pressure do down just looking at the pictures.
I especially admire what they added to the third floor - that floor to ceiling bank of windows, tucked in under the peak. Innovative!
The black and white kitchen is awesome, Clinical and gothic
where can i go to see about this house?
What an incredible house, you rarely see ones like this in the UK sadly. They seem to let so much light in!
