A little bit of rustic on a Friday

It's been a bit of a trying week, and I thought I'd keep things simple for today's post. I've always been drawn to spaces with lots of rustic charm, and there are so many wonderful rustic homes featured in the French magazine Art & Décoration which I manage to find at a couple book/mag shops here in Ottawa. So to end off the work week, sit back, relax, take a deep breath and enjoy the following photos...

Gorgeous! Love the stucco walls and the exposed brick and beams. I guess my personal definition of "rustic" is log cabin or red barn, but that may be because I'm from rural Wisconsin. =) These images make me feel like I'm on vacation in Europe! I love this version of rustic a LOT more!

Breathtaking interiors! I dream about an old wooden table in the dining-room...

I don't know if I could live with rustic, but I sure do love looking at it. Beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

I love interior windows in a space. It's such a great way to use and enjoy old, beautiful but inefficient windows.

And those bedrooms.... Oh heck, now it's nap time ;)

So beautiful! These photos bring back memories of a home my late grandparents built. It had such gorgeous romantic details. In fact, the hand rail used beside the steps was a long piece of driftwood that they'd stained and polished. Thanks so much for sharing these images today! Have a wonderful weekend.

Ahhh, just what I needed at the end of a long frantic Friday! I don't know what I'd do without your blog, it's my daily escape! Keep up the great work:)

Just as we're beginning to map out a new/old kitchen the right blog post appears.

man these are good!

Absolutely agree with you there Kim! Done tastefully, rustic can certainly be charming and sophisticated and totally liveable! The first two images are just delicious and the combo of copper pots, wide recycled timber flooring and billowing canopies over a comfy bed...to die for!

Never has cave dwelling looked so appealing.

Totally divine! I love the authenticity and warmth. I can imagine friends and family enjoying relaxed get togethers around the old wooden table with those gorgeous doors thrown open. Nothing too precious but so stylish.

I like all of these interior designs and settings. Rustiness has always been a good source of inspiration and specially in well managed and carefully designed interiors just as illustrated in above snaps. I was developing a theme for my client offering interior design services and its really good to have some good ideas from this collection.
