Covet Garden

There's another new online magazine in town folks! And this one is CANADIAN!! We received an email from Jessica, the art director, who with Lynda Felton (stylist) and Rhonda Riche (writer), decided to create an online mag joining all of the experience they had in the Canadian magazine industry (the likes of Canadian Living, Chatelaine, Flare, Style at Home, Canadian House & Home....). They say Covet Garden is for folks who are curious about real spaces. It's a peek into the homes and lives of some of Toronto's most interesting people - but the kicker is they are spaces that have not been styled by interior decorators. Love that! I grabbed a bunch of photos from their first 2 issues. The first several are of the Leslieville home of teachers Shelley and Brendon and their daughter Clover.

Covet Garden, cute name and looks like a fun magazine. Glad it's available on-line for easy viewing for those of us located in other countries. (me ~ US of A) ;o)

I LOVE this. As a former Torontonian, I'm always excited about all things Canadian. What a great home!

The paper balls above the kids bed are so lovely!!!

Definitely stunning. I really like all the images. I'll check the mag out.

Looking forward to seeing "Kim & Jeff's" house soon. (wink)

Maura - LOL! This mag might only feature Toronto homes though. (And with Jeff moved in this place is a freaking disaster. But GOOD NEWS - we're meeting with an architect on Tuesday to get moving on this addition we're dying for!)

Thanks for writing about us -- we love you blog too! We are Toronto only for now (our budget pretty much only covers TTC fare), but one day, hopefully, we'll be able to expand our empire to Ottawa.

A few wonderful ideas (the big paper flowers or the old antique and enormous map on the wall) - I love it!

Ah, but they said they will expand when they get more budget. That will give you time to remodel the house and be the cover of the first Ottawa feature! :-)

Good news about the architect. Can't wait to see what you are planning to do.

OMG! It's my dream come true....as I was jsut blabbing on about in another post on this blog, I have been craving design for and about regular people for eons. While the design mags are lovely and fun (and aspirational...oh but that word does bug me, I far prefer inspirational), I want to see real people's homes! I want to see people who struggle with their choices, make a few mistakes, develop rooms over time, but consider all that imperfection to be part of the fun. (My repetitive point is that we are inspired by our friends and people we see on the street when it comes to fashion, why wouldn't we be similarly inspired in design?). Ohhh....I'm going right over there now!!!!

Loving all the stacks of books! :)

Love the school map hanging on the wall, super creative! Wonder where I can get my hands on one of those... Really like the concept behind this mag, will need to keep it in mind when I get to the decorating stage (though it's a long way off....)
