Flickr finds - maps

I love old maps. Some of these photos are great. Some of these maps are wallpapers. I love them.

There is something amazing to look at maps, more so for vintage ones. We did not have the technology as we do today and the ability to draw back them was amazing. I use maps to make lampshades and tissue boxes, but my favorite is to frame the ones of places I have been.
Great post.

Oh I just love maps and globes! There is something so romantic about them -- What an amazing array of eye candy you have here!! aoneko's corner is fab, kershlock's map wallpaper is too cool, and I LOVE that little bathroom with the map under the chair rail. What is it about maps?! I just love them.
That last shot is gorgeous.
WOw, I'm going to have to go dig up my globes now.

This is one bandwagon I would love to be on.

Also the window panes strategy is a great idea!

I looooove maps! Thank you for posting this. These are some very good ideas. And I thought I was clever 'cause I use old maps to line my dresser drawers . . . .

I have a big Map wall in my bedroom that has maps from Africa to Mississippi. I want to travel & i figured what a better way to find out where i want to go then to always have maps i can see the location! I tore up my atlas & also put this on my map wall. I figured that i wasn't learning anything with all those locations being closed up in a book. Thanks for the inspiration

You can order unique, beautiful historical map facsimiles from the Royal Geographical Society in London - http://images.rgs.org/ for more details on sizes. They have over 1million maps in their collections. Alasdair

I've never been able to take a nice photo of it, but we have two lovely nautical maps that we cut up and framed in our hall.
