Kim's completed bedroom redo
I've been working on redoing my bedroom for a while now, and it's finally complete. Well, as complete as any room in my home can be, as I am often rearranging. But I'm pretty happy with the bedroom as it is now. Back in April I blogged about starting the bedroom and some of my ideas (and the demo of the huge closet that was in the room). Then a couple weeks later I managed to get the room painted, and blogged about it here. Slowly but surely the rest came together and I think I can call it done. I took some photos on Saturday, and boy was this room tough to photograph. The room is small (12'x11' I think) and the pale pink walls looked white in most of the photos so I had to do some photoshopping to try and get some of them looking accurate. (And I'm not good at PS). So here it is....
P.S. I uploaded a bunch of photos on Flickr (here is my photostream and here is my bedroom set) if you want to see more details of the room.

It's gorgeous Kim but what I'm really impressed by are your photos! Great job :)
Where did you purchase these shelves?
Wow, that floor is to die for!
Very delightful.
So gorgeous. Congratulations!
All the very best (live your authentic life!)
What a great room! I would love, love, love a pink bedroom. I had to settle for a pink office instead. (Dang husbands!) :)
So incredibly great!! =D
You all are making me blush. Thanks so much for all the compliments.
Natasha - I had never heard of anyone painting laminate so I assumed you weren't supposed to. :)
Kristin, the white bookcases are Expedits, from Ikea.
I really like it, and think its a wonderful room...but...where are your clothes...? It looks like a showroom rather than a usable bedroom to a degree. I don't understand the practicality, unless you have a closet off the bathroom or such I suppose. I adore the idea of a wicker screen for a headboard especially.
Rueby, I ripped out the closet in here because it was far too large and blocked the window. I have a really small second bedroom that I didn't need to use as a bedroom so I converted it into a dressing room.
Aaah! Well that makes sense. You should knock a hole in the wall for a doorway as your next project ;)
SO great. SO SO SO great.
am i the only one NOT going to play nice. ;-) as an interior designer, this is certainly not my cup of tea. way over overstyled and gussied up. kitschy and raffish; kitschy and garish. but probably suits your personality, kim. I would tone down on the "styling for the camera". don't try so hard. it's ok to just let the room breath naturally and it will find it's own balance. just my professional 2 cents.
Shabbychic! Looks flea market pulled together - just what you wanted right?!
LOVE the colors. i am trying to achieve a similar 'onthecheap' cheap theme in my home here in washington. Fortunately it doesnt look too grandma-y! lol. Ur mirror grouping is odd looking so perhaps try rearranging that again. Also dont care for ur choice of art work above ur bed. what type of bookcase config is that?. ikea? i am curious what other overall plans you have next on ur list.
Hey Kim! I love all the photos you took. Especially the angles! I think its a wonderful space. I love the screen you are using for a headboard. I think its a great balance of white and POPS of color! (especially the hot pink!) love it. :)
Hi Pink and Jessie! Glad you guys like it!
frankfort99, since I had next to no budget for this, flea market chic was what I was going for. Meant I just had to go down in the basement and grab some crap. :)
h.r. - thanks for your opinion. You are an interior designer and I am not. There you have it. Overstyled? Next time I'll leave out the tray. I've never had anyone call me garish before. :)
fs - I like odd groupings. Keeps things interesting. And I had no other artwork for over the bed. I'm always on the lookout for new stuff. Actually, I just bought something on Etsy that might work there. The bookcases are 2 4x4 Expedits from Ikea. As for plans, since I am still trying to pay off my kitchen, only small stuff happening until I can afford to gut the bathrooms, tear down the addition (my office) and rebuild it as 2 stories, redo the porch, build a garage, fix the foundation....
*Jaw drops* absolutely stunning... The floor... Those SHELVES!! With the perfect balance throughout... Bravo!
Oh its beautiful. I bet you can't wait to hop into bed at night and gaze around and all your fantastic work!
fantastic, kim! makes me want to twirl around on my toes - and i am a very serious chick - it's wonderful to see such open expression in a north american. you hear that, europe?! we got style over here too!
brava!
I love everything about your redo but my favorite part is your artistic vignette with cameras. Displays of collections can have too much or too little. Yours is just right and simply stunning.
OMG. what a happy place. i'm so jealous you have no children to muck things up!!!!! (well, i do love hannah!)
your bedroom is prolly one of the happiest i've seen!
LOVE IT KIM!
(btw, she looks happy there)
I LUH-HUV it! I believe I have been inspired. Thanks!
Love this room!! Where did you get the pictures above the bookshelves. I especially like the green one.
Kim your room is very interesting because you mixed different styles. The colorful objects contrast with the bright colors on the wall and on the floor. Beautiful job!!!
unique and amazing!!! I really love your style!!
