Sumo

There are chairs, and then there are CHAIRS. There is one chair I have wanted for quite some time, and when I got home from work Friday, there it was in a huge box on my front porch. My first ever bean bag chair! I was as giddy as a schoolgirl let me tell ya. Andrew, the founder of Sumo, had emailed a few days ago and wondered if I would be interested in receiving their Omni chair. And I am SO GLAD he did! It is the coolest thing ever. I chose platinum, which turned out to be the perfect choice. I had the thing in about a zillion positions and each one was super comfy. It's so big, you can sit and have part of it as a back rest. LOVED that. I chilled out in front of the TV on it in that position and I think it's up there in terms of comfort level with my newly constructed sofa. I can't wait to have my little niece over so she can play around on it. Speaking of which, they're made of rip-proof nylon so my 6 cats nor the niece can do damage. It comes in 10 colours (was kind of hard to choose), several different styles (a gamer, a stool, some that fit multiple people) and FREE SHIPPING!!! Also to note, they are cheaper than other brands. So go on over to their site and seriously, order one for yourselves. They are awesome. Thank you Andrew!!!

Could you tell us about the animal print rug? i love it!!

I don't ordinarily like posting photos of me, but in this case it seemed necessary. Manvi, I don't really want to discuss the rug as it seems to always spark comments that end up on a sour note (putting it mildly). Let's just say I love my rug and I got it on eBay.

It has nothing to do with the post but I'd love to have a floor like yours ! What is it made of ? what kind of paint did you put on it ? Thanks !

The floors are a really ugly and cheap hardwood that I hated so I painted them. I should have used Benjamin Moore's Porch and Floor paint but instead I went the quicker-drying route and used regular paint and a varnish overtop which proved to be less durable and shows brush marks (because I was too pressed for time to sand between coats, which is not necessary with the porch paint).

Wow, I never thought a bean bag chair could look so good. And free shipping? Does that apply to Canada??

9 Mar 2009 | Unregistered CommenterKine

Wow, I think I need one of these. It's nice to see a modern take on the old bean bag chair. I loved those as a kid. I think the platinum was a very good choice.

I believe it's free shipping to Canada, the US, the UK and Australia. :):)

Hi Kim! Re: Manvi question.
Just want to know if your animal rug is real cow or faux print(hoping!)?

9 Mar 2009 | Unregistered CommenterM

Sorry but this is a post about my new chair, not about my rug. I don't want to start in on that here. Thanks for understanding.

Thank god it's you in that thing because my old bones would never get out :) I have made a comment before about your sexy footwear haven't I?

9 Mar 2009 | Unregistered Commentermidcenturyjo

It's not at all difficult to get out of the chair Jo, even for someone as old as you are. :O (and you had to go and say something about my sexy knit camo slippers - it is winter here ya know!)

i went the beanbag route for our basement since nothing would fit down the stairs - except instead of chairs i got 7ft couches. they're kind of ridiculous, but oh well!

$150, i think too much

I am in love with this oversized pillow of a chair. Kim, I blame you for fuelling my spending habits! Love the blog, by the way - I've been addicted for well over a year now.

Thanks Helen :) and yes I blame Kim for my bad spending habits too :P

Kim,
Love this bean bag (never been a fan before). Free shipping for UK too, wao!
Lovely posts, always.

Holy smokes, that thing is incredible. Off to check if they ship to Canada. Thanks for the reminder that bean bag chairs are so much fun!

Just after college I moved in with friends in an unbelievably small house. I slept on one of these for some time and found it pretty comfortable. I couldn't do it for months but in a pinch it was fine.

Holy your cat's fur matches your rug fur! I love the slippers! ha!

What?!! Cat on kitchen table??? That's a big NO NO in my house!!
So what's the beanbag made of? Cool comeback.

10 Mar 2009 | Unregistered Commenterdesignolive

Free shipping in Canada Lee. :)

LOL - thanks amandaheart!

designolive, the beanbag is made of super thick rip-proof nylon (PERFECT for households with children or 6 cats) and filled with top quality beads. (In my home there are cats on the table, cats on the counters, cats in the sinks, cats on the bed......)

that "chair" is hideous and obviously Kitty is not amused!
