Bedroom vanities

We recently received an email from Natasha with the following request: "I'm just wondering if you can do a post on bedroom vanities for some inspiration - preferably ones with a mirror (not necessarily attached). I love the antique + glamorous style but I also love simple, steamlined, and functional. Some of the main colours in my room right now are ivory, silver, and antique gold." My personal favourite for bedroom vanities are small mirrored desks/tables for some sparkle and glam with a vintage mirror from the 40s hanging above. I did seem to have a hard time finding vanity photos in my stash - I guess they aren't as popular as they used to be. And the ones I did find seem to be on the sort of french/country side and almost completely absent from more modern bedrooms. But below is a selection I did find - hope this inspires you Natasha.

The following is a creative idea for a vanity. Take an old metal desk (imagine the black glass in the photo is where the chair pulls up), sand off the old paint down to the metal, and add a funky mid-century chair or an antique boudoir stool, hang an ornate mirror above and you've got the funkiest vanity around.

Beautiful examples! Our new house has a very tiny main bedroom, too small for my little desk and beautiful mirror, and I really miss it. I think what I liked best was that it was the one spot in the house that was all mine (a flattering mirror helped too!)

Each of these vanity ideas is so unique and inspiring in their own ways, I just can't pick a favorite!

Beautiful vanities !
My bedroom vanity is an inheritance of my Grandmother. I love it.

I have a 1930's vanity - it's white with three large mirrors, and a blue glass shelf and trim. It's my favorite piece of furniture!

Would love to see the pictures from the commenters! These sound great! I just found mine this month and posted about it
Love your pictures! So glamorous...

i've been lusting after a venetian mirror and a dainty mirrored vanity for years. Ah, vanity, here is the sting -- I think I've grown out of girly. All these lovely possibilities, and the one that I want to sit at is the Max von Sidow macha black & chrome bauhaus.

Wonder how it would work with my double-framed antique iron bed that looks like it grew in Mr. MacGregor's garden? (shudder) Just a little... separation should do it, right?

The Kate Hume set up is so classic.

I never have enough time to sit down and pamper myself. Slap on some lippy at the bathroom mirror and run out the door. Maybe when I have more room I'll treat myself to a vanity.

Thank you so much for all these inspirational pictures!! I especially love the ones from Living Etc. near the bottom - the mirrors look so daintily glamorous. In fact, I want to steal them from the model room haha
