Me, my home, my cats and a mag
One day a couple of months ago I received an email via Flickr from a stylist (Mihaela Radu) who works for the Romanian version of House and Garden magazine called Casa si Gradina. She really liked the photos of my home on Flickr and wanted to use some in the magazine. I was given not much else in terms of details and I had no idea what photos she selected. WELL, turns out it was a whole bunch of photos...enough to fill TEN PAGES of the magazine! A reader of our blog and fellow blogger Annamaria Chitan graciously offered to send me a copy of the magazine and I received it this afternoon. There is an entire story about me living in my home with 6 cats and what I've done to fix up my home on a budget. Some of the photos chosen are not very recent (ie. kitchen without proper dining table) and OMG an entire page of a photo of me, but I ain't complaining. It's so cool to see many of my photos in print. :) So here it is:

Felicitari Kim, pisici si casa!
You look fantastic and so does the house! And the magazine's layout is good too. Neat!
Thanks everyone!
Wow, your home is absolutely gorgeous. I love it!
Congratulations! :)
Have a great weekend!
Am I the only one who thinks this was very sneaky of them? I mean a layout is a layout, but you should have had a contract, control, AND some pretty significant compensation. I would recommend caution, next time.
"Casuta unicat"?!?!?! This KILLS me! I love it! You are now officially required to use this phrase ALL THE TIME instead of saying 'home', as in, "I'm on my way to Casuta unicat to make dinner." or, "Darn, I left my cell phone charger at Casuta unicat!"
This is so great.
LOL it says that Green Tea sold you the cabinets in installments and that you make "frequent changes in the kitchen, most often the kitchen table". It just doesn't seem quite right to take your pictures and do a story without your approval or a basic process for translation review.
It is a bit odd to me that they didn't really ask about details yet there's a whole story here that they got I guess from bits and pieces from Flickr and the blogs. Ah well. Have to say that this is the first time a mag article relating to me or the blog has played out like this. Thankfully the mags are usually more organized, with fact checkers emailing/calling to double check their info after they've received my answers to interview-type questions.
But I'm still not complaining. :)
congratulations! I love seeing pics of your home in mags..
congratulations! This is wonderful -- great house photos!
It's so great to see more of the woman behind one of my favorite blogs! I check it every day. 6 cats!? Now I love you even more!!
(6 cats doesn't include the 3 strays I feed...crazy, I know)
Just to clarify, I just found an email where the mag had asked to send me some questions (it's been a little nuts the last couple months with about 4 magazine mentions). So most of that story came from my answers I imagine, although it sounds like the translation is a bit off.
4 mag mentions! You are SOO popular & so deserving! What a spread! It looks fantastic!
