My chairs are done!!!
Because I was stuck at work well into the evening yesterday, I didn't have time to get a post ready for this afternoon. And since I just got back from the upholsterer, I figured maybe I could get away with just posting my chairs with their new cushions I picked up. It was a bit costly, but OMG soooo worth it. She did an amazing job. Now if I can just keep the damn cats off them...

The chairs are fabulous! Our kitty does NOT go on our couch. We use(d) a combination of Nature's Miracle spray and water in a spray bottle. Nature's Miracle is an all natural yucky tasting spray that cat's don't like. Spray it where you don't want them then gently put their mouth on the area (tricky, yes). If you can't bring yourself to do that, just spray kitty in the face with water and say, "no kitties on chairs." It worked for our princess even though the world revolves around her. However, she's made it clear to us that she would go on the couch whenever she damn well wanted - but it's rather uncomfortable so ultimately it is HER choice no matter how many times we keep spraying her with water, and oh, she kind of likes it when we do that so in the end she retains control of the house, the couch and us ;)
LOL!!! Great story Samantha! I just need to go to the fabric store and buy more fabric to lay over the chair cushions for everyday. Actually, I stuck a folded tablecloth on the yellow chair and there's already a cat snoozing on it. I can't make them stay off the furniture - they live here too. But so help me GAWD, if I see claws anywhere near my furniture...well, let's just say they know better. :)
just wanted to let you know that I LOVE how your chairs turned out. The paint colors and the fabrics are wonderful. INSPIRING! Thank you for posting.
oh my goodness!! that yellow one is WIIILD! (in a great way!). and the white with the green zebra. *sigh*... i'm still wishing for something just as perfect for my small bedroom. it's dying for a chair in the corner.
Yellow chair here, yellow hungers on design for mankind, and now I just feel that I need something yellow, maybe a yellow lamp...
Those look like VERY HAPPY chairs!
I was so inspired by your first post about these chairs that I've been trawling craigslist ever since in the hopes of scoring a couple of my own to re-do...and today must really be my lucky day because I found not 1 but 2 potential winners!! Am so excited and already daydreaming about what kind of fantastic fabric I'll re-upholster the cushions in.... lalala!
Thanks tammy! coco+kelley, get yourself onto Craiglist and splurge on a great little chair for your corner. Be sure to pimp it out. Karina, check out the top right corner of my credenza :) Fifi Flowers, I'm a VERY happy girl with happy chairs. And phoenix that's awesome! I love finding great scores - chairs and fabric in particular!
They look great! Did you paint them yourself or did the reupholsterer do it?
Thanks! I painted them...just a couple of cans of spray paint.
OH Kim. Must your taste be so fantastic?
oh these chairs look fabulous! love the fabric you've selected for the cushions! I bought a cane back chair and am in the process of painting it in a black lacquer - next to pick the perfect print - your chairs give me hope!

and i wish you more success then i've had with the kitty thing...
Fab per usual :)
Thanks Ornit (LOL), kay (i love black lacquer!), maison21 and Jo!
Love the yellow wicker- I just posted some of my favorite yellow things on my blog! Yellow is definitely the color of summer. Great zebra rug in the second pic with the white wicker. Good mix of textures!
Hi Kim and Jo,
Kim's house is beautiful and artistic. I love the Bargello cushions, white walls and bright colors on cushions, also cow rug and matching cat.
Your blog is one of my favorites. Its always pretty all the time.
Michele
The chairs are gorgeous. And just remember . . . cats are people too! (At least, they think so, and that's what matters.)
Thanks Michele! And anon, Phoebe, Cheeks, Milo, Mimin, Lucky and Felix remind me ALL THE TIME that they are people too. And that this is THEIR house.
OMG - these chairs are AMAZING! What a gorgeous job you have done!
