Country kitchens

I've got kitchens on the brain these days, so I thought I'd share some lovely kitchens from Country Home.

These are some great ideas. Before our kitchen reno started we went through dozens of magazines and catalogues to get ideas and create our swipe file.

Of course, the pictures never reveal what it takes to achieve those end results ie. mess, disruption, noise and drywall dust. It certainly pays to have a sense of humor during the process of getting one of these dream kitchens.

As well, with all the options that are available, you can create the look you want sometimes for a lot less money and even better if you do a little research and ask a lot of questions. Our cabinet maker gave us some great ideas to achieve the look and feel we were going for but was easier to do, more useable and much cheaper in the end.

And the place where we are getting our appliances explained what all the different features were on each of the units that we were considering. He was able steer us in the right direction and which manufacturers are better and which ones give the same features for a lot less money. We are going to get some awesome appliances for a couple of thousand less than we originally thought we would.

It pays to find the right people to deal with. We had to check at a number of places before we found a contractor and stores that we felt comfortable with.

If you are considering putting in a new kitchen, create your swipe file and find good people to work with. It does make a difference.

Hope this helps,
Robin

If only I had the space to build a kitchen like these - GREAT selections!

I much prefer country kitchens to something cold and modern. I just think that since the kitchen is the heart of the home where everybody tends to congregate, it should be a warm, inviting space! I love the brightness.

Beautiful. I'm so envious of the space. My kitchen is so tiny that it's almost impossible to fit more than one person inside!

Thanks for the tips Robin!

thevintagechair, I agree with you 100%. Industrial kitchens that are all stainless or really modern kitchens are not very inviting.

E....poor you! Must be hard to cook in such a small space.
