Cute factor

How do you make a good photo GREAT? Add an animal and you increase the cute factor by a zillion percent. As most of you know, I am a sucker for animals, and beautifully decorated rooms. This post includes both.

Agreed! I just posted pics of my bedroom over at DFM, and of course, my dog Bernard was the hit:

wow fannie thanx for pointing that out. im stupified that kim chose a pic of an animal laying on another animal fur! wheres da love??

27 Sep 2007 | Unregistered Commentercynthia

Da love is in the beauty of the photo. It's as simple as that.

Hi!
I feel compelled to give my 2 bits:
Fannie and Cynthia do have a point, Kim. It's not so simple as you state. You claim to be a "sucker for animals" (and beautifully decorated rooms) but you continually support a hideously cruel industry by showing rooms adorned in animal products such as fur and hide. You may not be aware, but this indirectly supports the horrible death of all types of animals (cats and dogs alike as fur is not isolated to a few species). I noticed the statements being made in your zebra rug comment section. A lot of people do not support animal cruelty for design innovation or "beauty of a photo" (there are a myriad of cruelty-free and animal-friendly choices!).
There is no love nor beauty in your choice to display such images. Evidently, your pets are beloved to you. So it would only be logical for you to make a conscious and moral decision to actively incorporate compassion into your work.

I REALLY appreciate the fact that my post about cute dogs and cats has been turned into me promoting animal cruelty. WOW.

27 Sep 2007 | Unregistered Commenterkim.

WOW is right Kim. Are all these negative comments for real?!?!?! All the negative people should now head on over to Living Etc. and comment there. Keep up the good work Kim and Jo and might I add that the pictures in this post are simply adorable.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion; this is not so much negativity but validity. The fur/hide industry IS a terrible one, but if Kim chooses to endorse it, well that is her perogative.
All that aside, these critters are awfully CUTE! Great research!

This just gets better and better. I post 12 photos and one happens to have some fur in the bottom corner and now I am endorsing the fur industry. That one got a chuckle out of me.

Hey anon, gotta name?...didn't think so.

28 Sep 2007 | Unregistered Commenterjulia

Hi Kim, this is SUCH a great idea for a post. You ought to make pets in interiors a regular feature. I must remember to shoo my dog into frame next time I'm taking pics of my house :)

I just found this blog and I'm so glad I did. You guys have such a great eye! I'm definitely adding you to my dailies. :)

I love all these rooms so much.

Thank you for posting!

28 Sep 2007 | Unregistered CommenterKellie

Thank you zee and Kellie! Zee, I'm always on the lookout for cute animal/decor photos. I've done a few "dog on chair" posts. :) I need to find "cat on chair" photos now.

I support your readers making a statement that they don't tolerate cruelty to animals.

28 Sep 2007 | Unregistered CommenterKaren P.

I support that as well Karen, because I don't tolerate animal cruelty.

28 Sep 2007 | Unregistered Commenterkim.

What about Jo?!?!

30 Sep 2007 | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

Hey - leave Jo out of this. ;) Plus she already commented..."Dogs, cats, chair porn, great photos and fab rooms plus 12 images". What more is there to say?
