Sew groovy!

Lots of open up, flip down, roll away good ideas from The Practical Encyclopedia of Good Decorating and Home Improvement, Vol 15 Pre to Shu, Greystone Press, New York. No date but I'm assuming late 60s. 18 volumes of alphabetical retro inspiration. I'd kill for a sewing space this fabulous! Need to find a cupboard and start planning.

P.S. Sorry about the quality of some of these images but that's what you get from scanning old books! And don't forget to click on the pictures to get the whole retro inspiration.

And of course, no sewing room is complete without its own GUN RACK.

I'm setting up a sewing/craft room right now, so this is a well-timed post for me. Unfortunately, I won't be able to go the built-in, modular route.

Marm think of it as somewhere to keep your rolls of Amy Butler fabric when the kids are out hunting.

The yellow room with the pegboard wall reminds me of my mom's sewing room when I was young. I love to see retro design photos. Thanks for sharing!

I recognize that kooky gun one from the side-splitting book "Interior Desecrations."

Here's the link to the online version, with gads of photos and hysterical commentary by the author:
