Maarten Baas
Mon, 2 Apr 2007Dutch designer Maarten Baas has quite the imagination. I was totally blown away when I saw his work. He is so talented and creative that Moooi adopted his Smoke designs and his furniture has been bought by museums and collectors such as Philippe Starck. Did I mention he is only 29 years old?

I love that people are pushing the boundaries of furnitere design. You could never really use the things but they'd look great as feature items, a piece of sculpture. But OMG how could he burn a Charles Rennie Mackintosh chair. The young dogs are after the masters!
came across his work couple years ago. the smoke collection is one of my great loves- the upright piano is incredible.
I love the sense of humor in the pieces. I think everything needs to be a little bit funny.
I love the smoke chairs too. There were a couple on his site I would love to have in my home.
