Arco lamp

A reader wrote the other day looking for some lighting inspiration. Darcy is thinking about purchasing an Arco lamp and hoped we could post some photos that include these lamps. Not a problem, since it is so popular in modern spaces. It is a very versatile lamp, used often in living rooms to anchor a seating area. It is also a fantastic solution in a dining room if there is no wiring above a dining table for a pendant light. My favourites are the retro versions with fiberglass shades. I covet one that I bought for $15 while thrifting one weekend. Hope this helps you come to a decision (to buy one) Darcy.

I adore that lamp! I've always wanted one for my dining room because I'm too lazy to hang a lamp.

I love the arco and all the copies and variations there of. A great way to introduce light to a difficult area and looks soooo cool!

I can't help it, but I do not dig Castiglioni's Arco Lamp (inspired by the structure of street lighting), especially modern day replicas. Aside from the fact it looks like it would get in the way if not placed correctly, it's way too bulky and cheap looking a la 90's repro style (remember those bent over 4-split Walmart-like floor lamps... ick! That ruined it for me!). Not chic at all, especially since it is so overkill trendy these days. Give it up!

ohhhhhh - HARSH! Samuel, I have a feeling you're in the minority here. I'm laughing because Jo has one of those 4 split floor lamps. I won't use "Walmart-like" because hers does NOT look Walmartish. Still funny though.

No hard feelings! I like yours in your space - it HAS to suit the space.

hi everyone,
i'm looking for a lamp very similar to this one, however, instead of being one arch and one lamp, there are about 3 or 4 arches and lamps coming out of the one stand. The lamp is the same, being polished chrome, etc, it just has more lights... hopefully i've been clear enough to give you an idea of what i'm on about. Any idea where I might find a lamp like this or what they're called? i've seen them before in a danish antique store.

Hi,
I'm seriously considering purchasing the arco lamp however I don't know how much light it gives off with a 60W bulb. It would be my only light source in the room (bedroom sitting area). Can anyone tell me if it would give the room a faint glow or only light the area in which it hangs above. I'm worried because of the solid s/s shade it won't give off enought light as would a lamp with a fabric or white shade.
