Roof top oasis

Andrew O'Sullivan, Australian landscape designer created this lush Balinese inspired garden on a roof terrace. Inside and out meld seamlessly. Andrew's design philosophy is PEACE - Practical, Environmental, Attractive, Cost effective, Educational. He's well known for his use of salvaged plants and materials, something he has put into practice in this design. Another great example of sustainability and environmental awareness on the personal level.

How ironic that you post about lush landscapes this morning when I just woke up to a freaking blizzard outside (first snow of the year). *sigh*

So much green! Living out there must be a delight for both eyes and mind...
And it's seems to be both "outdoors" but also cosy - those armchiars are practically begging to curl up with a book!

Ummm, that should actually say April...

Oh my goddess, that blue outdoor tub - that's what dreams are made of!

Kim - snow! So sorry to hear that it's started. I'll have to call my mom to see if she's burried under out in Barrhaven! This is why I'm not visiting her until Paril :o)

Lovely inspiration for a garden retreat!
Adore perusing this blog... I am nosy and curious, ladies, are you making a living now from DesiretoInspire? Must be a success by now, so have you quit your day jobs? Basically, are you making money from this commitment? I am doing a project on interior design blogs for my Uni business thesis so any info would be great.
Cheers!

First, Jo-anne who can't type, AS IF your mom lives in Barrhaven! That's the next hood over from mine, about a 5 min drive away! She FOR SURE got snow. The whole city did...and LOTS of it.

Vanessa - HELL NO we are not making enough money to quit our day jobs, although both Jo and I would LOVE that. What we make from this blog is a bit of spare cash that we store in paypal and use to buy fabric and other crap we order on Etsy or eBay.

Thanks for the prompt response, kim. I was wondering how much time you invest in this blog in any given day, or week. And about those other design blogs, such as decor8, sfgirlbybay, and designsponge... how do they make a living just blogging? Thanks for your time! You're a gem!!

Vanessa, how about you send me an email and I'll answer your questions there instead of me hogging Jo's post. :)
