Superbum

No not super bum, superbum as in Platycerium superbum or staghorn fern. I'm addicted and have several in my garden as well as elkhorns. Ever since I saw STAGHORN on Instagram (@staghornhome) I want to fill my house with them. Melbourne based plant stylist & horticulturist Monique Plunkettis the creative force behind these plaque designs. Whether staghorns, cute little elkhorns or even the kokedama version they're all totally superb!

Living in the shop

I swear I'd move straight in. I've had a huge crush on Bonnie and Neil for years and now they have a bricks and mortar store in Brunswick, Melbourne. Swoon!

I need this couch

I don't really but I do like it very much. A little too much. It would work so well in my dark brown living room. Funny thing is I just gave away this sofa.

I always had plans to have it reupholstered in a kilim or the like but never got around to it and if I am honest I have no room for any new furniture. Also I'm broke :) Plus I gave it away a few weeks back. So that's the end of that.

Back to that Moroccan Tribal Rug Low-back Sofa. It's on sale at Ruby Star Traders. Lucky for my bank balance it's in Sydney and the shipping would be way too much. Then I spotted it on Abigail Ahern's instagram in her house. Makes me love it more. Yes, yes I know. I have a savage girl-crush on that woman ... and that sofa.

Thanks Freedom

A lovely little package arrived the other day. What could possibly be in the Freedom bag tied up with polka dot ribbon? How about the cutest little side plates to remind me of the long summer days to come? Yes please. Surfers, sand and palm trees. I can find the Pier Summery Side Plate online but the other two seem to have disappeared off since I last looked. Hopefully they are still in-store if you really really must have them :) Not sure how I'm going to use these but I'm sure they'd go great with coconut cake and a cool iced tea.

But wait there's more. Two Marbella Side Plates (here and here). I'm loving the marble effect. Spot on trend. I think I might have to use one in the bathroom to hold my rings and jewellery and one near the entrance as a key/coin catch all. I love the sound that metal makes as it twinkles on fine bone china. Thanks Freedom!

The long, lovey lunch

Wednesday saw me picking my way through traffic down a narrow lane somewhere between a verdant park and a warehouse district in inner city Brisbane. I was looking for my lunch spot. I had been invited to share a long, lovely lunch with Brisbane creatives, bloggers and journalists to celebrate the opening of the new Brisbane home of Pottery Barn, West Elm and Pottery Barn Kids. (More on that soon.) The venue for our gathering was Vieille Branche in Albion, a magical French antiques shop, cafe and event space. With stylist and photographer Kara Rosenlund as hostess this was going to be a feast for all the senses. Helping Kara with the styling for the lunch was another Kara, Kara Hynes aka Lulu Lucky. Everything was perfect right down to the place tags handcrafted by Kylie Johnson of Paperboat Press. The pictures hardly do it justice. Such a beautiful way to celebrate the opening of a new retail experience in Brisbane. Thanks Williams-Sonoma.
