More from Dinesen

Beautiful wide planks of wood sent a frisson of lust through DTI readers. Oak and Douglas fir made readers pin and like and share and save to inspiration folders. Easy to see why the flooring from Dinesen caused such a fuss. In an age of man made and faux and plastic and "that will have to do", it is a joy to behold the beauty of the natural wood celebrated. Wide and mighty. A statement. OK. OK. Just so darn sexy in a roll around and stroke the floor kind of way. To feed our addiction for these perfect planks Dinesen has sent us more images from an apartment designed by Anouska Hempel. Enjoy!

Dinesen

Delicious. Divine. Dinesen. A Danish flooring company that sources floor boards that are so beautiful, so perfect that the best in the business must have them in their designs. Think Anoushka Hempel, John Pawson and almost any Scandinavian architect you can name. I stumbled across them when I found the MacDonald Wright Architects website. There, lurking in the links, was a company that puts the wood in my flooring love. Oh bad, bad pun but folks if I could marry a piece of oak or Douglas fir I'd tie the knot with these planks.

Stairs for Kim

Kim is hoping to start her new home in the coming year. She has been gathering ideas for months (actually that is probably years) and I have been equally guilty of bookmarking pages and saving files. Today I came across these stairs while real estate stalking. The moment I saw them I thought "Kim's new home". And if she doesn't like them I'm sure there is someone out there who will. You can see the rest of the house here.

Sunset cabin

Toronto based Taylor Smyth Architects create poetry or so they say. Buildings relate intimately to their surroundings, embracing the site, celebrating the vista. The Sunset Cabin at Lake Simco, Ontario is a simple building and simply beautiful. A one bedroom cabin, a private retreat in the woods, a bunkie, a getaway that looks to the setting sun for inspiration.

The natural (brown) collection

I'm having a design crisis. I'm finding myself drawn to brown. Not just brown but neutrals, no ... naturals, maybe wood ... and stone ... maybe brick. Grass and feathers and gnarly old branches next to turned bowls of eggs and seed pods. It's clutter and collections and brown .... brown ... natural ... oh and copper and brass and antiques and hemp and sisal and hand made furniture and back to brown. It's driving me crazy but I can't help it. I found this home in the countryside just outside Berrima in New South Wales on my regular real estate stalking and I should be running screaming shouting "no", "no", "no" but ... I'm kind of hooked. It bothers me but perhaps it shouldn't. Link here while it lasts.
